Stoke v West Ham

Postby Conner99 » Tue Feb 26, 2013 9:12 pm

Stoke suffered a 1-0 defeat at Fulham , a penalty was missed by Jonathan Walters and so the away form of the Potters continues to trouble manager Tony Pulis ...he commented after the game .." We needed to score the penalty , but didnt .. we have been closer in away games this year and have had opportunities and chances that we haven't taken."

West Ham fans were not blowing any bubbles at Upton Park as Tottenham scored a last minute winner to win 3-2 ...yes it was Gareth Bale again and manager Sam Allardyce was left to comment after the match about what might have been .."Bale was the difference , we made a terrific go of it. It was at a crucial stage when Matt Taylor got through one on one and their keeper made good save, we want to be scoring that."At 3-1 there is no way back for them."But I thought the lads caused them a lot of problems."

Roberth Huth has been charged with violent conduct by the FA after his was caught on TV throwing an elbow at Fulham's Sendeross.

West Ham's captain Kevin Nolan could be out for up to 8 weeks with a foot injury thanks to Spurs Dembele who should have been sent off.

i predict Gareth Bale to win it for Stoke ...with just a mere thought while in the Tottenham dressing room he will send the ball rocketing past the helpless West Ham goalie ..

Robert Huth has accepted the FA charge and is banned now for 3 matches so will miss this game against West Ham.

I don't think we are good enough to win away at Stoke and can only see us suffering another defeat on the road.

Stoke 2-0 West Ham (Another nail in Allardyce's coffin) - I have lost faith in our manager and want him to be fired.

Did you know that Sam Allardyce’s team have lost their last five Premier League matches on the road. The club haven’t lost six in a row since December 2006.

Any comments or predictions?

West Ham have only scored 8 goals away from home this season , worst in the premier league and part of the reason why they are not further up the table ... i reckon a 1-1 draw .

Now this match really fascinates me. A true contrast of styles.

Stoke's ugly, aggressive long balls up to the gangly Peter Crouch; contrasting with West Ham's Bobby Moore-esque 60yard floated passes to the elegant target man that is Andy Carroll.

The world is watching.

FT

Stoke 0-1 West Ham
0-1 Collison 45'

West Ham win their first away game in the PL since November last year to ease their and mine relegation fears!

Will comment more when I've seen the highlights of what must have been a Hammers performance to be proud of.

Would just like to ask a question about West Ham's former player Behrami. I remember always thinknig hes very good whenever I see him. Hes now at Napoli starting lineup consistently this season, obviously doing well. So why did West Ham sell him? :P

From what I remember Behrami was very unlucky with injuries during his 3 years at West Ham
and also wanted to return back to Italy with his family so when Fiorentina came in for him he was off but
when he did play for us he usually put in some good performances and I never had any complaints about him.

I thought West Ham played some very good football and didn't see too much long ball stuff to be honest.

Vaz Te really made the difference when he came on and had one of his best ever games in a Hammers shirt.

He played a lovely little through ball for Collison to tuck away just before the break and caused Stoke problems all match,

How that lanky oaf Crouch was never booked for dangerous play for booting Taylor in the face I'll never understand?!

Also the way Jerome tried to con the ref for a penalty when it was never a foul was a disgrace and plain blatant cheating.

It was a great day for the Irons as most of the teams below us lost so we are now 9 points clear of the drop zone.

Sadly we don't play again for another 2 weeks as its the FA Cup next weekend and our home fixture with Man Utd is off.

on reading the match report i thought they had misspelled the name of my beloved bald pumpkin head. shame. i was about to give him a kiss on it, lol.

good result. we are now in the safe zone and are unlikely to be relegeted this season. one may sit now and enjoy the ride of the rest of the matches unworried.

these 3 points were exceptionally sweet. for all the criticism we get from outsiders we can console ourselves with the fact we are light years away from the throwbacks of Stoke City. we stood up impeccably to their rough house tactics early on and, when they saw this was a fruitless gameplan, resorted to whingeing to the referee on a scale that made Suarez look like a mute.

hideously unsavoury football club in just about every aspect fathomable.

the win also surely puts relegation fears to bed as every other result went in our favour as we go into the run in with a number of winnable home games still to play. we're only the second team to beat Stoke at their home ground this season so the win is not to be underestimated - especially given our own diabolical away form.

being forced into two subs within 10 minutes obviously disrupted our plans but there is no doubt the two men that came on were key figures throughout the entire match. Vaz Te was an excellent foil for Carroll and put in a performance not seen since we were in the Championship. COllison's passing was clever, forward and fast. he added a certain urgency about our game that we lack when Nolan is included.

Collins at the back was solid and a hugely welcome return and i barely recall our keeper being troubled - besides the gap toothed redneck's effort from 25 yards out.

absolutely loved that win.

Pulis amazingly made himself appear an even bigger twat than usual with his post match comments. O'Brien's tackle was inch perfect and nobody in their right mind gives that handball against Demel. meanwhile there was a blatant foul on Diame from Shotton which was a definite penalty but nothing was given but Pulis neglects to consider this as usual, the chav capped little berk.

do they still use that ball-throw weapon, i wonder? perhabs not, or they would be higher in the table.

Their new long throw in specialist is Malcolm Shotton.

I wouldn't like to study in Stoke!
