Bayern Munich v Barcelona - 23rd April

Postby Hams » Sat Apr 20, 2013 8:06 pm

Bayern beat Juventus 4-0 on Agg in the quarter finals winning with some ease against the Italian champions.

Barcelona only went through 3-3 on Agg on away goals against PSG and had to rely on a half fit Messi to get them out of trouble.

Do you have any comments or predictions for the 1st leg?

This tie is wide open. I think we might see a boring couple of matches.

Does anyone remember 2006, when all 4 semi-final matches were utterly boring? Well, I think this tie might be one such.

Not sure itll be boring, especially if its wide open.

Don't see Barca progressing not good enough at the back. Theres a rumour Puyol and Masch could be fit for the second leg but it wont be enough. Bayern have been banging on the door for a couple of years and look ready.
That said Abidal looked great on sat and was like he never left.
Should be entertaining as weve both pretty much wrapped up our leagues so everyone should be fresh.

I also don't think this will be boring.

Did you know that Barcelona have never won away against Bayern Munich (two draws, one defeat).

Any more comments or predictions?

As so often, I hope that we get a good result but football is never easy, especially against Bayern, I think it could well be again, a draw, then we win at home :D But we will need away goals, otherwise it will be very difficult. We also need to go out firing unlike what we usually do, which is too cautious and dont get into the game straight away and made to suffer later on....

Still some hours to go....will be keeping up with the build up :D

Not long to go now!
Barcelona will make a late decision on if Lionel Messi will start the game or not following his recent injury.

Bayern is absolutely dominating this match so far...... i can't beleive it..

..they also didn't get two penalties for two handballs, so it's only 1-0 now

Bayern press and defend as a true unit, Martinez being really clever, and they just crowd the middle so intensely, u can see why Juve and Pirlo got owned. Schwine is actually man marking Xavi, Iniesta crowded out, Messi pushed so deep.... and even our outlet Alves is being tracked by Ribery + Alaba which is very difficult....

Bartra is worrying me, I know it's his first real big game, but hes struggling clearly... yellow carded too, I just hope he hangs on.

I dont see any changes possible...apart from maybe Tello/Villa for Sanchez to help stretch Bayern. Otherwise we need magic from someone or have Bayern to get tired b4 we can create some openings.... but we usually do our best when we are behind, hopefully we can make something, we need an away goal!

On the other hand I fear Bayern's attack.... :(

Come on Barca~!!!

Not intentional handballs but could have been given, but the decisions havent favoured either side I thought.

Bayern showing exactly why they being rated so highly and rightly so.

Even though Bayern is better by now...Barcelona has the individual quality to turn this thing around all of a sudden..

this match isn't over yet..

Was Gomez offside for the 2nd goal and should it have been a foul for the 3rd goal?

Also was it the right decision to play Messi today as he didn't look fit and did nothing of note during the game?

barca were just so poor in defence and as bad in attack. bayern werent that good. they didnt have to do much to score but they did deserve it. barca need an overhaul in the summer

I thought Messi looked fit, but Bayern Munich just made their masterpiece tonight...

the second and the third goal should have been disallowed, but Bayern also could have had 3 penalties...
there is no doubt this result was well deserved..

.. incredible....

Terrible performance, hopefully it spurs them into big changes in the summer.
Messi wasn't fit and the gamble didn't pay off at all.
Good tactics from Bayern but the ref was way too lenient, take nothing away from them though as Barca offered nothing.
Even Tito who is so good with his subs was away with the fairies, no Villa until it was over?
Looks like Pep will take over the new European champs next season.
