Chelsea v Tottenham

Postby Conner99 » Tue May 07, 2013 8:31 pm

Chelsea took a big step to securing Champions League football next season as they beat Man Utd 1-0 at Old Trafford , a late goal from Juan Mata in the 87th minute moved the Blues into 3rd place and a win against Tottenham tonight would be enough to guarantee Chelsea their place for next season .

Tottenham also left it late as they beat Southampton 1-0 at White Hart Lane to keep the pressure on Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for 3rd and 4th spot , no prizes for guessing who saved the day for Tottenham again ..Gareth Bale powering home a super strike with just 4 mins left ..now a win against Chelsea would really put them in a good position heading into the final two games of the season .

Did you know that Tottenham Hotspur have never won a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge in 20 visits.
No side is currently on a longer run without victory at an opponent’s ground than Spurs against Chelsea.

I think that run will continue tonight and Chelsea will win but they need to have some sort of plan to deal with Bale.

Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham

Results have gone badly of late for Spurs. Lennon needs a good (influential) game.

Is it just me or have the Spurs fans gone missing around here?

As for the game...

If Chelsea win they are guaranteed Champions League football as their goal difference is much better than Spurs,if Spurs win then it is blown wide open again.

Missing Spurs fans? I beg to differ! Not sure about the selection of Adebayor but hey I'm backing Spurs to do the biz, unlike every other pundit and punter in the world. Never afraid to go against the flow! COYS

All Chelsea so far ,Spurs really struggling to get a hold of the ball .
Dawson denies Chelsea and Hazard a clear goal with a superb headed
intervention .

Adebayor with a sensational equaliser 1-1 game on

Can't really argue with the 1st half score line. Chelsea have looked good going forward.

Sigurrdsson makes it 2-2 ,good substitutions from Boas .

Spurs in the ascendancy right now ,Bale just whistled one over the bar.

Cracking game, fair result in the final analysis. A point may not be enough for us to get CL, but we continue to hang on by our nails. Never boring being a Spurs fan! :D

Yep, I've also got to give Adebayor credit today - goal was excellent, and he had some nice touches in the second half. Glad to eat my words.

FT

Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham
1-0 Oscar 11’
1-1 Adebayor 26’
2-1 Ramires 39'
2-2 Sigurdsson 80’

Any comments on tonights match?

I thought a draw was really a fair result.

Adebayor had a good game for a change scoring and setting up the equaliser.

If you manage to make the top four mate ,it certainly wont be through a lack of effort .
Great game ,and Spurs really took the game to Chelsea in the last 15 minutes.

Yeah, thanks mate. I think there may be at least one more twist in the tale before the season is over. I was really pleased with the spirit the team showed today, even when Bale had a 'quiet' one.

well ..I was certainly sweating on the outcome of this match ...it was just perfect for one of those Gareth Bale moments ...but this time it didn't happen , it leaves us with Champions League qualification in our own hands ..that is not guaranteed though ..Wigan and Newcastle will not just lie down and hand it to us on a plate ...a real battle will be going on in the next few weeks ..
