Brazil v England - 2nd June

Postby Hams » Fri May 31, 2013 3:34 pm

England's friendly against Brazil is set to go ahead after a judge suspended the game due to safety concerns.

The last time we played at the Maracana was in 1984 when John Barnes scored that wonderful goal that made him famous.

I see that the builders  have left plenty of bricks for England to pile in their goalmouth, surely one of the players is competent at bricklaying to perform the task.

And what a goal that was, he did a Brazilian on the Brazilians - Mark Hately scored the other goal and which helped set himself up with a move to AC Milan not long after.

I'm going for ENGLAND to win this one. Brazil are under great pressure to perform at home, and they don't have the Brazil teams of old. They don't look classy. They just look like any old team around now. A collection of individuals instead of a collection of special individuals.

Going for Theo WALCOTT to score for England, with Frank Lampard next best.

NEYMAR to score for Brazil, with Damiao next best.

2-3 England.

HT

Brazil 0-0 England

I also really dislike that new ball and hope that it isn't going to be used during the 2014 world cup.

Brazil 1-0 in front, thanks to FRED.

They've dominated the match, whereas England are not showing much movement for each other. Limited options to pass to. Very static.

Ox scores to makes it 1-1 with a powerful finish.

Then Rooney curls a peach into the top corner to make it 1-2 England.

Paulinho scores to make it 2-2.

We got a match on here!

FT

Brazil 2-2 England
1-0 Fred 57’
1-1 Oxlade-Chamberlain 67’
1-2 Rooney 79’
2-2 Paulinho 82'

Any comments on tonights result?

England played much better in the 2nd half and a draw was a fair outcome in the end.

The Ox and Rooney will remember those goals for the rest of their lives!

Do Brazil have anything to be worried about?

I loved it how when our fans started chanting England that it upset the Brazil supporters
so much that they started booing and jeering us but I guess they're not used to away fans making some noise.

Joe Hart made some good saves in the first half and was England's best player on the night.
I thought Milner put in a good shift and Rooney played well plus Chamberlain when he came on in 2nd half.
I was disappointed with the displays of Johnson at right back,Walcott and Carrick in the middle.

Brazil were the better team for about 60 minutes and it wasn't until we showed some attacking ambition that England improved

I still don't think we will qualify for next years world cup but at least Roy Hodgson can say he visited the Maracana.

Any comments on Sunday's match?

Not sure what the point in this game was, nobody seemed too bothered and neither of us are going to challenge for the trophy. We were shown up in the first half by Brazil but managed to get a foothold second half. That said we looked pretty poor in the final third apart from the goals which hopefully improves once we have our key players back.
