England axe Stuart Pearce

Postby Hams » Tue Jun 18, 2013 5:21 pm

The English FA have axed Stuart Pearce as manager of the under 21's following our humiliation in Israel.

Who should take over as the next coach?

the problem is that it isn't a very attractive job. you're not working with the best players available to you, there is very little club support for the tournaments, the talent pool is thinning by the year and there is far less prestige than you'd get frmo the senior squad.

to that extent, you're never going to employ somebody who still has visions of managing in the Premier League. it's a thankless job.

i would wager that somebody like Gareth Southgate will step up and have a crack.

I'd like to see Glen Hoddle take over the under 21's as
he has done a fantastic job with the youth academy he runs in Spain for discarded players
but he has said he wouldn't be interested unless things change at the English FA so you cant blame him.

Gareth Southgate has been named as the new England under 21 coach to replace Stuart Pearce.

How do you think he will do?

Not inferring Pearce was unusually inept ,but never mind Gareth
Southgate, Gareth Gates would have been an improvement.
