Hull Tigers!

Postby Hams » Fri Aug 09, 2013 1:44 pm

Hull City's Egyptian owner Assem Allam is planning to rebrand the club and call them the Hull Tigers

I do understand that he is the owner and saved them from going into administration but this is getting ridiculous.

Any comments?

My guess is that it would appeal to the Asian market.

I remember a few years ago an owner of some team (I forget which one) tried to change the name to Harchester United on account that he was a fan of 'Dream Team'!.

it's just cringeworthy.

a Yankified name that is wholly unnecessary. Hull City will never be attractive to anybody whatever name you give them so all it has done is p*ss off the locals.

embarrassing.

it does not mean anything really , the club will still be known as Hull City to most people . The `tigers` bit is just to promote the club and generate more revenue for the club .

i don't get how it will generate more revenue though.

would somebody genuinely not part with their money unless the club had an endangered cat listed after their team name? it's literally the same club but with a new word put in the name. i fail to see how this generates new revenue.

Hull City's owner has just announced that he will be going ahead with his plan to chance the clubs name.

Next year Hull City AFC will eventually just become Hull Tigers.

What do you think about these foreign owners changing the names and shirt colours of our football clubs?

Frankly, I'm outraged. You mean this chant will not be heard on the terraces any more?
