Man Utd v Chelsea

Postby Conner99 » Fri Aug 23, 2013 10:29 pm

Man Utd made the perfect start to their Premier League title defence ...a 4-1 win at Swansea thanks to a double from both Danny Welbeck and who else but Robin Van Persie , despite new manager David Moyes saying he needs some new players there is no pressure to sign anyone before the transfer window closes .."If the right players are available, great. But if not, the first thing we'll do is encourage our own young players in the squad to do as well as they did last year."

Chelsea had a narrow win over Aston Villa in midweek and currently top the table albeit having played a game more than almost everyone else , Jose Mourinho had asked his team to blow Villa away but there was to be no repeat of the 8-0 thrashing they gave Villa at Stamford Bridge last season . In the end it took a controversial winner from defender Branislav Ivanovic to seal the 3 pts for the Blues as the match finished 2-1 to Chelsea .

So how will `the new one` cope with `the happy one` .. the match of the season so far ..will it be a cracker ?

Lampard plays it's closer than it should be . If he don't i don;t care who plays for CHelsea they win this game easily.
IF Mourinho wants to learn anything then all he has to do is grab a copy of the FA cup match when they played and his decision should be easy.
First half Lampard plays and chelsea go down 2-0 and it could have been more.
Half time Mikel comes on and it's one way traffic for Chelsea and they pull 2 goals back!
There's the fat cockney twat in a nutshell right there!
:D
Then again you got that other luddite at the helm at man u ,who would rather play geriatric legend Giggs than the only creative mid fielder man u got in Kagawa. I throw my hands up and these terrace appeasers!

I wonder if Wayne Rooney will take any part in this or will Moyes go with Van Persie and Wellbeck up front again?

I think this will be tough match for Man Utd but they won't be good enough to beat Chelsea who will earn a battling draw.

Its David Moyes first official home game so I'm sure the Man United players will do everything they can to get their manager off to a winning start. I predict that United will reply through Van Persie and Hernandez after Hazard opens the scoring, only to see Romelu Lukaku equalize at the death to salvage a 2-2 draw for Chelsea.

Did you know that Manchester United have suffered 14 Premier League defeats against Chelsea; more than against any other side.

Any more comments or predictions for Monday nights match?

Rooney starts for Man Utd while it looks like Chelsea don't even have a striker in their starting line up!

He can but last season he played mostly for Leverkusen behind Kiessling.

Half-time 0-0

I think using Oscar in midfield is a luxury you can ill afford to have when
playing a team that dominates in the middle. Also Hazard has been quiet
by his usual standards, and Mourinho seems to rate the young lad De Bruyne
but for the life of me I cant see what he offers the team going forward.

If Mourinho brings Lukaku off the bench it will certainly give the likes of
Hazard and co more of an opportunity to seize upon the second ball.
Some subtle but not significant changes need to be made by Mourinho
in the second half,as Chelsea have looked a touch toothless as an
attacking unit.

Chelsea's defence certainly putting a shift in though.

Chelsea in dire need of the introduction of a player that can hold the ball
in attack ,Shurrle's done absolutely nothing in terms of bringing other
players into play.

Them game has 0-0 written all over it. I suspect both teams will be happy with that...

Mikel on ,and Chelsea quelling Uniteds attacking threat ,last ditch corner United after
poor control from Torres. Van Persie to take ,comes to nothing though and Chelsea
bring it forward..... Game over 0-0.

Completely uninspiring performance from both teams ,Gary Cahill man of the match for me
with Valencia for United.

FT

Man Utd 0-0 Chelsea

Any comments on tonights draw?

Both defences appeared to be on top this evening and very few clear cut chances were created for either side.

I thought Wayne Rooney was the man of the match and the only player who at least tried to make something happen.

I couldn't believe it when the referee booked De Bruyne for no reason when he was elbowed by Van Perise.

I didn't think that Mourinho's tactics of playing the German Schurrle up front worked and would have like to see Lukaku.

Typical boring mourinho game. Also what was that at the start of the game where the two managers clasped hands. I thought they were going to kiss. Ridiculous the way some of these premier league managers show too much respect for mourinho. Just shake hands after the game

Yep, safe, boring and predictable. Having said that if Chelsea get Rooney for anywhere near the £30M they originally bid, you have to take your hat off to them and re-think your league predictions for 2013/14. He is class, the best of both worlds, a grafter who also has no small amount of talent. In the meantime, I think this was the first real test of the 'New United' under Moyes - test passed.

I'm sure Ferguson would have viewed that as two valuable points lost ,I think
this is the most discernible difference between him and Moyes.

Chelsea obviously came to United's place with the sole intention of garnering
a draw ,the fact Mourinho kept all his front players on the bench simply
confirmed his primary objectives.

Mourinho will be the happier of the two managers ,because his plan worked
to perfection, and they secured a point from a place notoriously difficult
to play a thoroughly defensive set up......And yet they took a share of
the points.

Flipping crap game!

BOth managers should be ashamed of themselves fro not putting out players available to them that could have lit this game up.
Moyes benching Kagawa the ONLY creative mid they have at united ,exactly why i said Moyes is not big enough for that job!
Small minded British thinker ,no adventure at all. Mourniho should be ashamed for pandering to the terraces that are already in the palm of his hand. Lampard offered absolutely nothing and as i said last year when you play that man against the better teams you are basically playing with 10 men. With lesser teams you can get away with it because work horses like Ramires will clean up his mess . I think it is easy to see that the likes of Shurrle and De Bruyne have no place on that pitch against such opposition until they get some premiership games under their belt!
Had to laugh at the commentators when the subs were made "attacking mid off for a defensive mid (mikel) ,i wondered out loud what kind of mid Lampard was then? because i couldn't tell you by this match at all!
I am guessing Mourniho has chosen him as his starter and all i can say is there goes any title hopes! Chelsea will not win against any of the big teams with that lump stinking up the pitch. Guess that must mean another man of the match performance in the British press regardless. Shocking!
