Liverpool v Man Utd

Postby Conner99 » Wed Aug 28, 2013 10:35 pm

Liverpool have made their best start since they were last pretty good in the Premier League , a 100% record so far ..largely due to new keeper Simon Mignolet and Daniel Sturridge ...it will be a huge game at Anfield as they face the Premier League champions Man Utd . The words from manager Brendan Rodgers is to keep the good run going ..."The mentality of the group is to win together. That is important , we have to keep it going."

Man Utd are doing ok under new boss David Moyes ...a 0-0 draw against Chelsea was not how he had wanted his first home game in charge to end , but the champions are so far unbeaten and as always in football the most important thing is not too lose . This will be another tough match so early in the season ..

Did you know that Manchester United have not lost any of their last 13 Premier League away games – the longest current run in the competition.

Liverpool 2-3 Man Utd

What a disgrace.

I think that whoever sent that tweet from Liverpool's official account should be fired from their job and named and shamed.

I actually saw that Tweet as it happened, and didn't get the connection until somebody pointed it out.

Coming from a background (aka my job) that consists of handling the social media voice of large brands, you'd think they'd have some checks and balances the way we operate here. Guess not.

will the fact that David Moyes has never won at Anfield be put right on sunday , with Everton he never had the likes of Robin Van Perise , Wayne Rooney or Danny Wellback at his disposal .

That's just disgusting. There is no excuse for mocking fatal tragedies.

Liverpool are usually on the receiving end of this "banter" but as a Liverpool fan, I'm ashamed.

If someone offered me a draw I would take it. Even if we signed Sakho tomorrow, he wont be ready for Sunday.

If we lose, it'll be to defensive errors because it'd be tough to get past Mignolet with our defence on form.

It seems like David Moyes didn't win anywhere when he was Everton manager! He never won a game at Old Trafford either :?

Wayne Rooney won't take any part in todays match for Man Utd due to an accidental head injury caused by Phil Jones in training.

there is just one team playing right now and this is Liverpool... where is Kagawa??
why is there Young and Giggs in the starting lineup, but Kagawa doesn't even sit on the bench?!?!?

1-0 Liverpool so far... Manchester United (without any creativity on the pitch) has no clue what to do..

so it ends Liverpool 1 Man Utd 0 ...yet again Daniel Sturridge getting the winner . Liverpool top the league at the moment and have maximum points from 3 games .

David Moyes will continue with his very poor record of never having won away at Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge is in great form for Liverpool at the moment and must start for England next week.

I don't think Ryan Giggs should have started such an important game as he is way past his best.

What I would like to know is where is Kagawa as the Japanese would have at least provided some creativity.

What a game. We look so strong, defensively. Skrtel did really well and Agger was our best defender.
United were so dirty and lucky not to have a red card. A well deserved 3 points.

Top of the League.

Top of the League

Who would have thought it that Liverpool would be top of the league
as we go into the international break with 3 wins out of 3 and Luis Suarez hasn't even played yet!

I understand from reports that England manager Roy Hodgson was refused permission
to sit in the directors box at Anfield and instead was made to sit somewhere else with all the scouts.

The Reds however had plenty of room for the likes of ex Gavin and Stacey star James Corden though.

I know that old Roy's spell at Liverpool didn't go well but that was a poor way to treat our national team manager!

I thought we played well enough in the first half and looked far more
threatening ,and in the second ,although United had the lions share of
possession I believe we successfully neutered Van Persie and co.

Deserved winners, but I cant help feeling even though it was the same
personnel for United that lined up at the start that it was a very different
animal than the ones we have seen visit Anfield down the years.

Under Ferguson ,sitting in the Kop was never a comfortable seat,You always
believed United would snatch something right at the death ,today felt very
different and I never felt the same feeling of apprehension when United
surged forward.

Rodgers is proving some tactician ,and his strategems for nullifying the most
potent teams is proving extremely fruitful ..... Top of the League ,and a win
against the Mancs is reason for celebration enough ,but the manner in which
we collectively take the sting out of the game by playing as a solid unit is
something even I never envisaged us perfecting.

Sakho,Ilori and Moses to finally free up Coutinho ,will make Liverpool even
harder to beat and much more inventive in midfield. Whisper it quietly ,but
the future under Rodgers innovative style of football looks very promising
indeed...... on another note Skrtel was superb earlier ,as was Gerrard who
rolled back the years with a combative midfield display.

It wasn't pretty ,but it certainly was effective ,and another three valuable
points simply confirms that.

Roy Hodgson requested to sit with the scouts, or at least that's how I heard it.
Its probably not as newsworthy as 'LIVERPOOL DIRECTORS REFUSE TO SIT WITH
ENGLAND MANAGER' but there you go ,no doubt it will be all over the back pages
in a futile attempt to deflect the attention from the reds winning today.

I would of been pleased with 6 points in 3 games but to have a 2 point lead is a blessing.

Consistency is key now and we have a decent run of games. With the new editions we now have depth so we're more than capable of keeping good form.

Can't believe what I've just seen. A United fan saying the ref gifted us the 3 points. Hows that for irony?
