England v Moldova - 6th September

Postby Hams » Wed Sep 04, 2013 1:40 pm

A win for England on Friday night against Moldova at Wembley
would take Roy Hodgson's side above Montenegro to the top of Group H.

Unfortunately Wayne Rooney is out injured with a bad head injury but we should still win without him.

Any comments or predictions for this crucial world cup qualifier?

I'm not happy that we have dropped Cleverly and Carrick and gone back
again to a midfield partnership of Gerrard and Lampard which we all know just doesn't work!

Will still be surprised if we don't win tonights game easily and expect at least a 3-0 victory.

Going to be interesting to see if the formation works against the Moldovans. I'm up for England to win easily tonight 2-0.

Stroll on, this Moldova team is so abysmal England should be in double figures come FT. This is the opportunity to try everything an England side would normally shy away from. Lets try some really adventurous stuff! If you can't 'showboat' against these bozos, what is the point? Frickin' pub team!

FT

England 4-0 Moldova
1-0 Gerrard 12’
2-0 Lambert 27'
3-0 Welbeck 45’
4-0 Welbeck 50'

England go to the top of their group as Poland did us a favour by holding Montenegro to a a 1-1 draw so it was a good night for Roy Hodgson.

Any comments on tonights performance?

I thought Steven Gerrard played very well and deserved to be awarded the man
of the match after scoring the opening goal and dominating midfield which let him pass the ball about.
It was also another good display by Rickie Lambert with his 2nd goal for England in 2 matches.
Danny Welbeck had a great game too and was very unlucky to be booked by the ref and will now miss the Ukraine match.
It was a ridiculous decision by the Swiss official who surely can't have thought the Man Utd striker was trying to waste time?

Who will start upfront with Lambert on Tuesday now. Defoe is not fully match fit?. I think I should give Roy a call, I think I may be in with a shot!.

I Think Tuesday will be crucial. A win and we are home and dry, a defeat and its all in the balance again.

I honestly don't believe I have seen a more inept performance
from a team who are not San Marino. How England didn't see
the resurrection of Norris McWhirter clasping his Guinness Book
Of Records on the outcome of the scoreline was probably due
to some of the worst finishing I have ever witnessed from an
English front line.

Moldova just read mold ,because obviously the fungus contained
in the latter was nothing compared to the spoilage that took to
that pitch on Friday.
