Southampton v West Ham

Postby Conner99 » Tue Sep 10, 2013 10:26 pm

Southampton lost their unbeaten record as they ere beaten 1-0 by Norwich , it was frustrating for manager Mauricio Pochettino as he thought his side should have been awarded a penalty , he said (through his interpreter) "It was a clear penalty and we aren't having much luck in terms of fairness with calls from referees. It is unfortunate."

West Ham let down all Hammers fans at Upton Park after losing 1-0 against Stoke , it was the kind of performance that had our very own Steely Hill spitting mad and declaring "diabolical game and even worse performance , this cannot be allowed to happen again." There are not many teams these days who fail to have a single shot on target during a premier league match ..but that's exactly what West Ham achieved and manager Sam Allardyce admitted that his side were never in the game ..."our game went missing today" , further bad news is record buy Andy Carroll injured himself in training and will be out for a while longer .

We may have brought in Petric on loan but that won't help us and i fear that our season is already over after 3 games and we are doomed to be relegated.

Southampton 3-0 West Ham

I know I was being a little dramatic!

I was just very disappointed that we have lost Carroll to injury again :(

Did you know that No English player has scored more goals in the Premier League since the beginning of last season than Rickie Lambert (16).

Any more comments or predictions?

Hoping for a good result to come from this game, which would be a win, although it wont be easy as WH are a good side and fat sam's teams are always tough to play against. I like West Ham and feel that they get unfairly labelled as a "hoof ball" side when they actually do mix it up, also they are on the back of a poor result and performance against Stoke so they will be up for this. I think we have a good enough squad now to win this kind of games but we really are not consistent enough, for example last season we beat Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City and yet lost games against QPR, Sunderland and Wigan at home. I just hope we can be more consistent this season if we want to finish top half. Anyway I'm going to be optimistic and go for a tight home win!

Southampton 2-1 West Ham

Ravel Morrison gets the chance to impress in the Hammers team with Stewart Downing not taking part today.

The tackle on Diame was disgusting! The only thing more egregious than the tackle itself was the usual completely racist habit of the commentators to make excuses for the culprit when the victim is black in these situations! The talk about intent and the venture into the grey area of that subjective ideology has become a routine reaction to these defenders of what they deem the good guys! No doubt the same excuses would have been used if Diame's ankle would have been broken which is shockingly not the case! Pathetic Englishman!

FT

Southampton 0-0 West Ham

We have our keeper Jussi who was outstanding to thank for keeping us in what was a poor game with several great saves.

James Collins could have won it at the end but blasted his shot high over the bar!

It was a terrible decision by the referee not to even book Schneiderlin for that tackle on Diame.

West Ham have now gone 3 league games without scoring a goal and only had one shot on target in this match which is again not acceptable!

There must be some other strikers out there who are out of contract that could come a do a decent job for us FFS!

Over the years how many points has Jaaskelainen saved Big Sam ? Once again he
was unbeatable......Inspired performance from the big Finn.

Incidentally is it just me ,but does anyone else think this need for an interpreter to
accompany Mauricio Pochettino smacks of a bit of arrogance .....Surely by now he
can formulate at least a few sentences ?

If my career took me to a foreign country with the knowledge I would be there for a
considerable period of time, I would at the very least endeavour to learn the language
in an attempt to ingratiate myself with the fans.

O'Brien = thug!
Watched the player over then course of a couple of seasons now and i have grown to dislike this neanderthal with a passion!
Probably a champion of the good old boy network over there , keep them foreigners in line so nudge nudge wink wink!
West ham goalie kept his team in this game with some incredible saves!
I'm just wondering why this Southampton coach has benched the reliable Yoshida for that plank they have right now!
could it be some cultural misconceptions or biases ingrained into the Spaniards culture? Surely not!

while O'Brien's tackle was pretty filthy he is far from being a 'neadnerthal thug' ffs! do agree with your assessment of the tackle on Diame. it also came about ten minutes after the same trog planted his studs in Diame's thigh while 'going for the ball'. an utter disgrace that he stayed on the pitch.

speaking of disgrace, our away performances are becoming unbearable. we are desperate for Carroll to return. Maiga offers nothing in that role and nobody bothers to support him, safe in the knowledge that possession will be lost sooner rather than later.

i thought it an error to push Diame out wide and have Morrison central. the other way round would have been a far better option, defensively and offensively.

it's a point i would have taken before the game but it was a losing performance, for sure.

You do realize i am making my assessment based on a couple of season's watching the habits of this mug and not just a
knee- jerk reaction to one bad challenge! He's a horrible little bloke ,dirty as you like! I'm all for being aggressive ,but there just seems to be a tad bit of nastiness to his game! And i am quite sure that you yourself have witnessed him on more than one occasion these traits but have obviously kept quiet about it! :D
