Real Madrid won the CL last season, Will the likes of Ronaldo,Bale and James be able to do it again or will Bayern or Barcelona be able to stop them?

Marseille v Arsenal - 18th September

Postby Hams » Mon Sep 16, 2013 3:54 pm

Arsenal get their Champions League campaign underway with an away trip to Marseille in France.

The French side are coached by Elie Baup and have the likes of Valbuena in midfield and striker Gignac in their ranks.

Any comments or predictions?

Did you know that Arsenal are unbeaten in their 10 away games against French opposition
(6 wins, 4 draws). They have actually won each of their last five away matches versus French clubs.

Any comments or predictions?

The group of death commences today ! Number one seeded team against a crop of teams like that is a joke!
It's going to be a tough run for us make no mistake about it! If we focus early and keep the boot on the neck of these teams when we get ahead .we'll be alright. But we have an habit of making game harder than they should be because we get lapse, and let them back in the game.

First half down and a tight affair with the french team having most of the possession but almost no threat on Arsenal's goal.
I see the French team tiring half way through the second half and Arsenal getting a couple of late goals!

1-0 Arsenal

Wilshire to Gibbs to Walcott who finishes it with a stunning half-volley, wish these foreign managers would give our English youngsters more of a chance... oh and who said he's only good at running?! Hopefully that goal will give him the confidence boost to improve his finishing this season.

2-0 Ramsey

What a season he's having, reminiscent of Cesc 07/08 when he started finding the net.

As i predicted two late goals from Arsenal , as these continental teams are just not used to operating at such i high intensity!
The penalty at the end was joke ,that's all i want to say about that! Gibbs was great in this match ,Ozil was crap! Wilshere and Ramsey also had effective games could have been a bit more aggressive with the attacking but kept the french club busy with movement and pressure.

FT

Marseille 1-2 Arsenal
0-1 Walcott 64’
0-2 Ramsey 84’
1-2 Ayew 90’ (pen.)

Arsenal rode their luck a little but put
in a good 2nd half performance and deserved the win.

The Gunners have now won an incredible 10 away games in a row!

Any more comments on tonights result?

I wish something could be done about the guy with the loud speaker trying to work up the Marseille fans.
Its so annoying and should be banned by UEFA!
