Tottenham v West Ham

Postby Conner99 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 8:18 pm

Tottenham had to settle for point after a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at White Hart Lane . It was a fair result after both teams shared almost identical match statistics , a red card for Fernando Torres gave Tottenham the advantage as the game entered the last ten minutes ...but Cech saved well from Defoe and Vertonghan shot wide as the game ended all square .

West Ham suffered a 1-0 defeat at Hull and for manager Sam Allardyce it was all the more frustrating as his side were not entirely to blame , referee Kevin Friend fell hook line and sinker for a clear dive by Hull forward Robbie Brady in the penalty area ..Brady slotted home the spot kick and left West Ham without a win since the opening day of the season . Add to that the penalty that West Ham should have got but didn't and you can understand a little of the anger from the Hammers boss .

Allardyce talked about the decisions after the match .."The referee has given two really poor decisions.Brady takes a simulation on a slight contact with Joey O'Brien when the ball is not near him or the goal. He buys the penalty and the referee falls for it."Then Livermore puts his arm out and knocks the ball for a corner but the referee doesn't see it and doesn't give us a penalty."So it's our responsibility for not finishing our chances and the referee's as well for us losing the game."

I’m going to the match and I'm looking forward to seeing a Spurs win. Allerdyce done okay with what he had available last season and the Irons
will give us a game. However, current form and playing staff says home win. Spurs 3 West Ham 0

With the Hammers not having any forwards and also having biased referees against us I don't see West Ham taking anything
from this game and as i said in the Hull topic if we suffer a heavy defeat I believe Sam Allardyce could find himself out of a job.
I'm not really looking forward to this game at all and think it will be a comfortable home win for the Spurs at white hart lane.

Tottenham 4-0 West Ham

even if we lost 12-0 Allardyce will not be sacked.

i fully expect a convincing defeat here and will just be amazed if Lloris manages to get a bit of dirt on his knees.

Why don't we play without any strikers at all and just pack the midfield?

If Spain can do it so can West Ham.

Well well! AVB has dropped Soldado to the bench and recalled ex Hammer Defoe to the team for his first PL start this season.

HT

Spurs 0-0 West Ham

Townsend was Spurs best player in the first half while Nolan had the best chance just before half time.

FT

Tottenham 0-3 West Ham
0-1 Reid 66'
0-2 Vaz Te 72'
0-3 Morrison 79'

The Hammers win at White Hart Lane for the first time in league since 1999!

Will comment more on our performance later when I've had a chance to calm down!

Any thoughts on this surprise win for West Ham?

Winston Read Man of the match ,because he's on my fantasy team  What a result ffs! What a difference it makes keeping that thug O'Brien on the bench ,some great play by Diame and Noble but great effort overall by West ham.

Ouch, that hurt. A three nil thumping at home and no excuses, West Ham deserved the points. We had plenty of possession but done nothing with it. The only positive I can take from this is that AVB will have some pressure on his shoulders to work out a more aggressive attacking style to deal with teams like West Ham in future. Too much tippy tappy passing football, without the final thrust where it matters. I would have posted a lot earlier, but West Coast Trains have banned this site from their Wi-Fi on the grounds of decency  I wish you chaps would keep your trousers on....
Anyhoo, keeping it real, this may turn out to be a good thing for Spurs. The mettle of the manager and the players has been tested and found to be wanting. Work to be done Andre!
