Tottenham v Newcastle

Postby Conner99 » Thu Nov 07, 2013 10:04 pm

Tottenham had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Everton , they could have gone second in the table with a win and had the better chances but manager Andre Villas-Boas was not too disheartened with the result ..he said after the game. "It is a good point in the end. We could have gone second but, considering Everton's aspirations, it was important to get a point".

Newcastle stunned second in the table Chelsea as they won 2-0 at St James' Park , it was the perfect response following their defeat to Sunderland last weekend . It was , according to manager Alan Pardew `a fabulous win ` and it moved Newcastle up to 9th in the table .

After all the fuss last week about if AVB should have taken off Hugo Lloris when he became unconscious
at Everton I imagine the Spurs boss will be hoping for different headlines this time after giving the Toon a knock out blow on the pitch!

Tottenham 2-0 Newcastle

A game I'm going to, and one I enjoyed last year as I saw a great Spurs victory with all my Spurs supporting family in attendance. This is another game I'm expecting to be tight (is there any other type for Spurs these days?) and I'm hoping we can maintain momentum. The Barcodes will be buoyed by their victory over Chelsea, and they have fire power up front when they are in the mood, so I wouldn't be surprised if they score. Just hope we can as well!
Spurs 2 Newcastle 1.

Newcastle struck lucky to get that win against Chelsea and i can't see them being so lucky this time round. will be interesting to see the atmosphere on the terraces after Villas-Boas criticised them recently.

a stalemate after an hour could turn things rather sour indeed so i think Spurs will be going all out to grab an early goal to get the crowd behind them to see them through.

i reckon 2-0

AVB has confirmed that Lloris will start.

Did you know that None of the 33 Premier League goals Newcastle have scored in 2013 have been by an Englishman.

Any more comments or predictions?

it was a bit ridiculous really , Lloris was unconscious for seconds yet some were saying Spurs were putting lives at danger . I think Tottenham should prove too good for Newcastle , but this season you just never know ...what should be has proven to be wrong on more than one occasion .

Its 0-1 as Loic Remy takes it past Friedel and finds the net with ease with
a quality display of glue foot ....Cabaye is playing out of his Gallic skin.
Newcastle well worthy of the lead .

Spurs trying to bring it out from the back are getting caught too often in
possession .....Incidentally this particular fau paux , leading to the Geordies
goal.

Newcastles game plan seems to be pressurising Walker and Townsend into
unfamiliar hurried play....Its working ,Sissoko has been immense through the
middle,and been relatively untroubled.

Take a bow Tim Krul, as he tips Soldado's deft header over the bar and expertly so.
Whisper it quietly but these French lads can play a bit ,delightful skewered ball from
Sissoko that has the Spurs defence looking for someone to blame.

Is that an error or do 2 S. Ameobi's now play at Newcastle?

If I was a Spurs fan I would want considerably more from the flaxen haired Dane
than brief interludes of genius ...... I would like to see him formulate a tackle of
some description or chase a lost cause from time to time.

Krul with another brilliant save from Paulinho's shot ,made some class stops
today ,and possibly the man who has done his utmost to retain his sides
lead.

If Gouffran gets any closer to Townsend he could pluck his nose hairs for
the lad ....strong determined performance from Gouffran who is helping
his defenders in the constraint of Spurs most influential players,in Walker
and Townsend.

Half time ,and Spurs need Santos to be introduced like yesterday,Tiote and
Sissoko have in a defensive sense been like the 'Three Gorges dam' .

I didn't expect Newcastle to win this game also! It sounds like Krull played a blinder in the Toon goal.

Ouch, another defeat that will impact on our final league position. My only consolation is that AVB made the changes that counted at half time. I’d be concerned if he made no changes, but the change in formation confirms that the man is a thinker. Sh*t happens, move on.
