Napoli v Arsenal - 11th December

Postby Hams » Mon Dec 09, 2013 10:28 pm

Arsenal just need a point now to win Group F and qualify for the last 16 to give them an easier draw in knock out stage.

Napoli will have to beat the Gunners and hope that Marseille do them a favour against Dortmund to make the next round!

Any comments or predictions?

Higuain has put Napoli 1-0 ahead with just over 10 mins
to go which would be enough to put them through to the last 16 as Dortmund are only drawing 1-1 at Marseille at the moment

To make things worse for Arsenal Arteta has now also been sent off!

FT

Napoli 2-0 Arsenal
1-0 Higuain 73
2-0 Callejon 90

Napoli win but are out of the CL as Dortmund have won 2-1 away at Marseille.

Arsenal make the last 16 but have only come second in the group as the Germans have a better goal difference!

So The Gunners could end up playing the likes of Barcelona again in the next round

So Asrenal came into this one playing for a draw by playing two defensive kids ,big mistake!
Didn't seem like they cared about finishing second in the group but just getting through which they almost blew due to a stupid double yellow card.
It doens;t matter who they play in the knock out stages ,if they have arelatively fit team i think they feel condfient beating anyone. Barca won't be a problem ,and they never have been if we are fit!
We beat Bayern ,we beat Dortmund the only real fear would be English teams Especially Chelsea !
We get Walcott back ,Ramsey back to from Wilshere injury free and we may have a chance against them.
I just think Arsenal are a little too thin a squad to comepete against them to be honest! .
Anyway on to the next round bring on the draw!

You didn't beat Dortmund though. Dortmund won the group. They have the better goal difference and they would beaten Arsenal on away goals had it been a knock out tie.

Barca, Bayern, Real, Athletico or PSG. Won't be easy for Arsenal.

Only time will tell pal!
BUt i'll tell you that Barca have never outplayed us with a fit team and that my friend is a fact!
Against the drives of lemming like barca girl scouts on here i preducted to perfection what would happen if we faced them with a fit team ,and every time Barca scored a goal we made them give up an equalizing goal faster than whore in a brothel! They had no pthing to stop us form getting our goals back so stuff yuour opinion ,it means nothing to me! THis Barca team are not even close to the one we beat last time and was beating at camp nou until the ref bailed them out ,in terms of confidence.
As for bayern again ,we beat them at home ,their pride and joy. IF you wnat to ignore the fact that Arsenal were the first to beat many big EUro teams in thier own home then that's on you my friend. Wenger breeds a certain kind of team ,that has no fear of anyone if they are fit. Just go and look at thier record.

Fully deserved 3 points for Napoli, but shame they didn't qualify.

Up and at em right from the start. Rafa had them well drilled.

If they had scored one more goal, then Arsenal would be third.. that was actually very close

Bayern were actually weaker at home last season. They were undefeated in the Bundesliga away with just two draws but they did lose against Leverkusen and Arsenal at home.

If I was an Arsenal fan I wouldn't be happy if Wenger had
told his players just to make sure that they didn't lose this game by more than 3-0.

Why didn't the Gunners try and be more positive and try and get a result?
Even a draw against Napoli would have been enough to finish as winners of their group.

I hear that many Arsenal fans were 20 mins late into getting into the stadium as the Italian
police were too slow in escorting the away fans into the ground and this is clearly not acceptable.

There should be an official complaint to UEFA about this and just an apology isn't good enough.

It is very shameful that the Napoli hasn't passed the turn with 12 points. Second me he deserved to pass. I would have prefer that in the group of the Zenit passed only one team, while in group of the Napoli, all and three. it was a group too difficult with three top team!!! The Uefa should ashamed!!!

:D It's kinda funny that Zenit got through with 6 points and Napoli are out with 12 but that's not really UEFA's fault. What do you want them to do? They already have 4 different pots to ensure the best teams don't face each other in the group stage.
