Certainly sounds like she is on fire.
So what is the league table etc looking like at the moment? I know hardly anything about womens football - maybe set up a topic with updates on the league table etc for us members that dont get to see much of the game. May convert some of us.

well Everton and charlton are top, equal on points but charlton have a game in hand.

in 3rd its donny belles but they've played 10 games (Everton have played 9, charlton 8 )

and Arsenal are 4th but they've only played 6 league games because of their involvement in the uefa cup. if they win all their games in hand then they'll be top.

here's the table http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/women/table/default.stm

anyways bk to the actual topic of this thread!!lol i think Kelly Smith is just on another level and i dont think i need to go into why i've chosen her, anyone who has sin her play knows why! also another player i really rate, who dont really get mentioned much and doesnt really grab headlines, is Fara Williams, i really rate her, i think sum of her passes out of midfield are top draw and shes a real consistent player who you can count on to bring out the goods every match! anyway jus my opinion, feel free to disagree, Wink

I saw Kelly Smith play for Philadelphia when she played in the now defunct WUSA here in the states. She was a force to reckon with that day until she went down injured. I was very much impressed with her.

Also, Julie Fleeting played here in San Diego as well, and she was a very dangerous striker when she got the ball in front of the goal.

I think Marta from Brazil is an amazing player and if she continues to get progress, she will be a common name in women's football.

But for me, Mia Hamm could do it all. She was a leader, a scorer, a passer, had good pace, excellent dribbler and would draw defenders to her which created openings for others. On a personality basis, she was as humble as she could be, she never felt comfortable talking about herself, and would talk about others instead.

There are so many talented women footballers out there, to name is an injustice to so many others that are worthy of mention.

And, maybe I'm unusual (my wife thinks so), but when I go to a game I can talk, eat and watch the game at the same time........ Cool

I've been around, thanks for remembering me! I can of stayed away from this, was getting a bit heated and didn't want to get shot down! Laughing Really, I watch all the women's soccer I can, and I enjoy it. Obviously, here in the states it's all about the US side, which is going thru a transformation, not only with its players but a new coach as well. I truly miss the WUSA, it was great to go see then play and see the stadium filled with young screaming girls with there own club kits on and screaming at every little thing that happened on the field. I'm hoping a resurrection of the league will happen, I know they are working at it, but need to get corporate sponsor's and a bit more money. It's something that gives youth soccer a huge boost......

I think thats the plan, in '06 the plan is to just get a group of all-stars together and play in different cities to keep the interest alive. I hope it happens......
