Southampton v Chelsea

Postby Conner99 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 10:12 pm

Southampton ended 2013 on a low as they lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park , just 1 win in 8 games has seen the Saints drop from 3rd to ninth in the table , manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping for a happy new year as his side take on Chelsea at St Marys ..he said after the game "I thought it was a great game, we played positive football, it's a shame we did not get a positive result but that is football."We did have great chances it's shame we did not take the lead and a shame we leave with nothing.

**Well..what a shame**

Chelsea dealt a blow to the title hopes of Liverpool as they won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge , it was however littered with controversial decisions that mostly favoured the home side ...Howard`i saw nothing` Webb , could have sent off Samuel Eto'o for a horror challenge on Jordan Henderson and then later on should have given a penalty for a block on Luis Suarez by ..yes , that man Samuel Eto`o again . Of course Blues boss Jose Mourinho saw things a little differently ..he said about the Suarez incident .."Suarez lost the duel with Azpilicueta, who has the ball and is leaving the box, now he is doing an acrobatic swimming pool jump to try to get a penalty."

Ok ...Jose ...we believe you !

I don't think Chelsea will be quite good enough to win away at Southampton and think this will be a draw at St Mary's

Southampton 2-2 Chelsea

Chelsea have a squeaky bum of a game today at Southampton and will be lucky if they come away with all 3 points giving the Special One something more to moan about.

FT

Southampton 0-3 Chelsea
0-1 Torres 60
0-2 Willian 71
0-3 Oscar 82

A comfortable away win for The Blues at a rain soaked St Marys.

Any comments on Chelsea's victory?

Interesting stat the opening goal scored by Torres was his first away from home in the PL for the last 13 months!

I hate to admit it but Mourinho made a couple of great substitutions to turn this game around. Apparently he has said Mata can talk to him if he wants to leave.
Southampton look like a team that is beginning to flag a little, long season ahead Saints!

I was always of the opinion that the Saints over achieved in the first half of the season
but now they have lost something like 6 in last 9 but they should still finish in top 10 which would be good campaign for them.
