Arsenal v Bayern Munich - 19th Feb

Postby Hams » Fri Jan 31, 2014 2:00 am

Arsenal may have only recently lost top spot in the
Premier League but they are still very much in the running to win the title.
The Gunners are also through to round 5 in cup and will face Liverpool 72 hours before this game.

Bayern Munich are just unstoppable in the Bundesliga at the moment
and now lead the table by 13 points plus they have also gone 43 games unbeaten in the league.
Pep Guardiola's side are still the favourites to retain their CL trophy and could win another treble.

Any early comments or predictions for this 1st leg at the Emirates?

As much as I love to see Arsenal having success by playing beautiful football these days, in my eyes the only team who can beat Bayern Munich is theyself or (maybe) Borussia Dortmund...

There is some good news for Arsenal fans that Franck Ribery may not be fit to play 1st leg as he has just had an operation on his buttocks!

Any comments or predictions for this 1st leg?

The Gunners have since drawn 0-0 with Man Utd and beaten Liverpool 2-1 in the cup so are slowly getting back to their best again.

Any more comments or predictions?

Are you kidding?
I guess you missed the FA cup game then!
Arsenal have every chance of beating Bayern at home they did it last year they can do it this year for sure!
It really depends on who is available for Arsenal . If we have the player available we had earlier in the season i would take Arsenal over this Bayern team easily.

Come on Specnur at least be serious. What arsenal fan in their right mind would say I think arsenal would beat bayern easily. Alright be confident in your team but don't talk like your out of your mind and maybe say I think we can beat them.

He's on another planet altogether mate...

Over 180 minutes we are b ig underdogs, rightly so.

I just hope that the gulf in class motivates wenger to improve the team.

Wenger has spent the lasr 7 years putting average teams together and thinking that if he said ?mental strengz? enough he would have a midas effect.

He also thinks that by copying Barca and Bayerns youth promoting focus we will be as good as them, he doesnt understand that these kids only play because theyre good enough.

Interseting that the bookies are heavily favouring Bayern, Yet nearly everyone on Arsenal sites says we will win. Proof of what im always saying about fans inability to see things clearly?

God you're really getting boring. Aren't games like this what you're an Arsenal fan for?! Get behind the . team.

Very surprised Wenger has gone for Sanago, but I can see the logic; Giroud's head isn't in it and Sanago will give us a bit of pace, big test for the young forward though. Got a couple bets on for tonight, will let you know if any are fruitful! 2-1 Arsenal is my prediction.

Just once it'd be nice to have a big European game that doesnt get ruined by an early red card, some day...

HT

Arsenal 0-0 Bayern

Who would have thought both sides would miss 1st half penalties?!

Will Arsenal be able to hold on with 10 men in 2nd half?

THRILLING GAME TO WATCH :D :D :D :D

Ozil invisible, except for that good trick he made to get a penalty, which he of course bottled

Arsenal had really good 20minutes, but then ran out of fuel so it's Bayern Munich dominating again, as they always do..
I'm surprised Bayern didn't score yet, because Arsenal literally did nothing from min 20' to now...

Why are Arsenal fans booing Robben?

Szczesny fouled the Dutch winger plain and simple and deserved to be sent off!

We lose ,Chesney ,We lose Gibbs and we take off Cazorla!
If we can get out of this game with a 0-0 that would be an incredible achievement!
Once we lost Gibbs i could see the change in the confidence of the team slightly and we lost a bit of the attacking drive we had with him. Lahm started to get crosses in once Monreal took the pitch ,they started getting a lot more joy with Robben getting involved also.

It's going to be tough going in the second half ,but if Koscielny keeps playing how he is .we'll have a great chance for a scoreless draw.
