The 2nd leg to this nasty series is starting to go down the wire!

The crowd was so hostile 4 years ago in Montevideo that this time Australia stayed in Argentina until just before the game where they arrived in the Uruguayan capital with the biggest security and police presence ever in international football.

A tough game resulted in soft fouls and dives, although I am biased on that one:).
But a lucky 1-0 result against us has seen the Uruguayans abit worried in coming over to Sydney!

At the present moment of time in Aus. The Uruaguayan team have a massive security patrolling them and their hotel details are yet to be found out by the Australian fans who want revenge for the episode that the Aussies team endured over there 4 years ago( spitting and death threats as well as banging drums and blowing whistles out side the hotel room all night before the game).

The media circus has never been seen like it has before in Australia and the hype is uncanny!
So we need a 2-0 win or a 3-1 win to go to Germany for the world cup. The first time since 1974!!

What do you reckon, can the Aussies do it????

One day to go and reports have come out in the newspaper that extra security has been given to Uruguay while staying in their hotel in Sydney.

This has been partly due to the Aus foreign affairs minister worried about security threats.

The newspaper got their story from some of the Aussie fan forums stating that the Aussies were so angry about the treatment of their team 4 years ago that they were going to do the uncharacteristic thing and do the same back to them.

This includes banging drums and blowing whistles outside the Uruguayans' hotel in the early morning before the match as well as trying to set the fire alarm off in the hotel.

Anti Uruguayan supporters will show their opinions of the Uruguayans when the coach pulls out to go to the ground.

The Aussies are also wanting to out sing the Uruguayans' national anthem when it gets played. (As this is what happened over in Uruguay in the first leg).

Due to the media getting their research from the forums', some forums have told fans not to talk about the subject on line and to do it privately.

The Uruguayan team did have a scare today but nothing serious, when their coach drove to the stadium for a practice kick, the driver took the wrong turn and ended up in the middle of a mass union rally with around 1/2 a million people protesting!!

I'll let yous' all know about any further updates as they come along but things seem to be starting to heat up here down under!

C'MON AUSSIES!!!!

I'm hoping Australia wins, but I will say they'll need to show a bit more than they did Saturday, I was dissapointed in there lack of build-up and seemed Viduka was there only dangerous player.
My opinion is that the free kick given to Uraguay that resulted in the goal was a foul that should have went the other way, but it's over and done now and Australia can still win this. Like I said, they need to play better for a full 90 minutes......

Yes he has acheived a lot, any coach that can get a good performance out of Viduka for most games deserves a medal in my opinion.
