Arsenal striker Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has been released on bail after he was arrested over a fight which broke out following the PFA awards ceremony.
The 19-year-old was detained following the punch-up outside the Cafe Royal in central London. One man, believed to be in his mid-20s, was taken to hospital with head injuries but is not understood to have been seriously hurt. Police were called at around 3am on Monday to reports of a fight involving up to five men. Dutchman Owusu-Abeyie, who has been with the north London club for nearly three years, was arrested along with two other men. The fight broke out outside the Cafe Royal's Elysium nightclub where a party was taking place following the PFA Player Awards held at Grosvenor House Hotel. A police spokeswoman said: "Three men aged 19, 28, and 35 have been bailed pending further inquiries and will report back to police in early June." Owusu-Abeyie joined Arsenal in the summer of 2002 from Dutch club Ajax. The teenager made his first-team debut in October 2003 and scored his first senior Arsenal goal against Everton in November last year. A spokeswoman for Arsenal refused to comment. |
