I'm using XP and have a 80GB HD and I have 48GB free when I look at Disk Defragmenter.

Any advice?

You can manually adjust the size of your paging file in XP. The paging file is a portion of your hard drive that they use as 'virtual memory', so instead of storing stuff on it it uses it to help the computer run fast.

Sounds like its adjusting it itself, but I always change it to a big size on my computer as ill likely not use my whole hard drive but a bit more virtual memory never goes astray.

To do this:
Open Control Panel thru the Start Menu
Open the 'System' file.
Go to the 'Advanced' tab
Next to Performance click 'Settings'
In the next window click the 'Advanced' tab
Down the bottom where it says Virtual Memory click 'Change'
Click on Custom Size and change the numbers to Minimum:2000 and Maximum:3000
Then click 'Set' then 'Ok'

See if that helps Smile

Im not actually sure lol but I think it will help your computer run faster when its got a lot going on, so when its normal memory is used up it can use the extra you created to help out.

Ive always done it to my computers and havent noticed anything bad because of it so cant hurt.

My old flatmate was a whizz at this stuff and set it up for me once, we had a S-Video cable from the back of laptop to the tv for the video signal And RCA leads coming out of headphone jack in front to tv for sound.

Dont know how much it will cost you but probably not much, $20 or so.

You would need to go into the settings, and make sure that Internet Time is set to the correct time zone, aswell as having "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes" checked.

If this is fine, then the other possibility is the bios clock being wrong.

Depends on what connectors you have on your TV.

Is it Vista?
If so single click on the clock
Select Change Date and Time settings
Click Internet Time Tab
Change Settings
Make sure syncronise option is switched on

That should sort it

K another one.

I just got a new flat screen monitor. Nothing wrong with that, looks very good and works fine, but it has built-in speakers. The sound quality isnt the best, it sounds very tinny and not very clear. Can i plug in my old speakers into the CPU and still have sound from the monitor, or does it have to be one of the other?

edit: i just plugged me old ones back in and it sounds better.

i have never known any monitor that has had speakers good enough to be used for a pc , unless it is used just for the office or work place .

Is there a volume control for the monitor , just turn the sound down . Cool
