copy the image file from the download folder into the folder for the game in your C Drive, know what I mean? Like with my FM08 I copied the image file from my FM08 download folder ----> C Drive -----> Program Files -----> Sports Interactive ----> Football Manager 08 ------> Paste -----> Yes, replace other file.
Should work. |

When you open the defragmenter you should see a list of drives (assuming you have more than one hard drive or you have partitioned your hard drive) in your PC. Select all the hard drives to defragment and there's a button at the bottom there that says 'Defragment'. Let it run for a while and run your Defragmenter when you are not using the PC. It doesnt work running in the background while you're working on your PC. |

I have a lap top if that makes a different. I put it on last night while i was playing a game, went back to check it and it was still going, didnt have to click on anything else apart from ok when i went into disk defragment.

It should be the same with laptops.
I remember running mine for around four hours (estimate). |

Hmm
Never had something like that before I'm afraid. Maybe you will get better answers when O Dogg comes on here. |

O Dogg, sorry to be a continual gnat. I did what you said, ran safe mode etc. I got a bit puzzled though when I logged in as admin. What was i suppose to do there, carry on using the computer as usual? Now i'm back on normal mode. |

Right, Ive hooked up my laptop to my portable tv using an s-cable, a converter into a yellow plug. but now i want sound from laptop to play through tv. Which cable would I need??

Any mini 3.5mm stereo plug to dual RCA plug cable should do you fine.
The 3.5 mm is the standard plug you'll find on any PC/Laptop audio port - the RCA plugs are usually coloured red and white - those go into the audio-in ports on the TV. Of course I'm assuming the TV has an RCA audio-in ports - since I don't know which model you're referring to I can't really be sure. |

Whilst in Safe Mode with Networking, you should attempt some downloads or speeds tests to see if your speed is what it should be. If so, then it is definately some software on your PC which starts up when Windows is booted in normal mode that is causing your slow speeds. We could try identifying then what programs are running on startup. |

|
|

|
OK then.
A) how do i carry out the speed tests? B) how do i identify running programs on start up? |
||||||||
|
|
|||||||||
|
Do a simple search in google for speed test websites - however many are inaccurate.
The most accurate way to tell what speed your broadband is running at is to download a big file. So go to somewhere like download.com, find a big file, and then try downloading it. Make a note of the transfer rate whist in normal mode, then do the same in safe mode and see if there is a difference. Regarding identifying what programs you have on startup, we can get to that later |

Only half of every forum page is loading for me and the forum is running really slowly. Also everything, mainly the fonts has blown up about 2x so its all very magnified and if I try zooming out it shrinks everything unbelievably. I'm posting this using the "post reply" button at the top so I have no idea if this is going to even work, it'll probably time-out again too

Just see if you can get a 3.5mm to a single RCA connector then - don't try it with a dual RCA cable - your sound will come out all buggered like |

ok ....have no sound from my new computer . It has a Creative X-Fi Platinum souncard installed ...as far as i know all the drivers are installed ....my speakers are Creative Inspire 5700 digital 5.1 .
Now on my old computer i just plugged one cable in from my speakers to one of the line out connectors on mt Audigy 2 sound card and it worked fine .. however this does not work on my new computer . Do i need some new cable connectors or is there something silly i have missed .....all this analog ...optical...coax jargon is a little confusing to me ... |

O Dogg, how crazy is this.
Since i've been away my brother looked into the problems i've been having, because just before we left his comp was playing up aswell. When we got back, he said he'd sorted it. The problem apparantly was the router overheating! He's been cooling it with a fan, and since i've been back my internet has been fine. Could that really be the problem solved?? |
