Henry Kewell has only made two starts this year, and has been plagued by injuries for the whole of his Anfield career. Rafael Benitez is hoping his injury problems will soon be behind him and back to the best form.

Benitez: "If he plays every week for the next two or three months and continues working, I am sure we will see a very, very good player. He can score goals, make key passes and make the difference in games.

"He is fitter now than before, but you need to play games to be more fit. Maybe he will play tomorrow or this weekend.

"He needs to play as well as possible for us and for himself. He is focused now on training and I am sure that we will see the best of Harry this season.

"I am not the kind of manager that says 'I have given you confidence, now give me something'. Harry is a professional and he knows we need to do the best for our supporters, but the most important thing is that he does the best for himself. If you like your profession then you must do your best. Harry must be the same, like all our players."

Being an Aussie and a Liverpool fan I'm obviously keen to see him back to his best. He was brilliant for Australia against Uruguay especially in the second game. He worked so hard, he 'cared' it was great to see. In each game he had very different roles and played in different positions and stuck to his role well. And he's had an impact when he's come on for the Reds even if they may not feel he's ready to start yet (although with Zenden injured maybe tonight he'll get a chance). We seem to control the edges of the box much better when he's on.

I read occasionally that in the UK he gets slated for only trying for Australia and not for his club, but then he gets the opposite here in Australia about not making himself available etc. He proved the Aussie knockers wrong last month, hopefully he can do the same for Liverpool supporters. He's the type of player who could really provide the service Crouch needs.
