Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka has laughed off suggestions that he is considering quitting The Riverside in January.

Viduka has started just 11 times this season due to a number of small injuries but the big Aussie has still bagged 7 goals, two of them being absolute screamers againt Birmingham and Palace.

Newcastle have tracked Viduka for a long time and see him as the replacement for Alan Shearer but Viduka has dismissed any talk of moving.

Is Viduka the right striker for Newcastle?
Is he a good replacement for Alan Shearer?
Caz, General would you like to see him at St James?

Viduka has heaps of talent and is a strong player - I think he would do well at Newcastle, but I dont see why he would move anytime soon - with Middlesbrough doing well. I would like to play alongside Owen though - so that could be tempting.

I do think he would do well there though.

I agree i think he would do well at Newcastle but he's at Middlesbrough which may not be a bigger club than Newcastle but we've certinally got more potential (no offence) We're in Europe, League Cup, playing better and more entertaining football and at the moment The boro looks like a happy club!

I dont see why he would leave at the moment, Boro are doing well. Newcastle are probably the bigger club but are having some troubles at the moment and there is uncertainties over Souness' future.

A new man is needed at the Toon. Many fans were dissapointed with the appointment of Sounness, and in my opinion, he has done nothing to win those fans over apart from get Owen. Actually he has made some decent purchases with Emre and Scotty Parker also.

Yea Emre and Parker are solid but Newcastle still need a lot more and they cant wait till the end of the season too.

Not sure if Viduka is the man for the job tho.

I think Owen and Viduka would be a good fit but if I was at Boro I wouldn't see Newcastle as an overly appealing option. Once we see a decent manager there and a generally more stable environment then they could do well. Where do they get all this money from though? And is throwing even more money around really the answer for them? The quality of the players isn't really the issue is it? Having said that they will have to buy a replacement for Shearer.

Big Mark has only just settled at Boro, so i doubt that he would leave them now. Besides he's no spring chicken at 30 so i doubt Newcastle would pay the amount that Boro would be looking for.

They can have Jenas back, he has been pants lately. Against Sunderland he got caught on the ball about five times! Just sitting there with it picking his nose till someone came and got it off him. And he was crap in attack, Jol had to haul him off in the end.

He did do good earlier tho, so we might keep him.

I told you when you got him that Jenas is very average, he won't be there for long when Mr Jol realises

He has flashes of brilliance, sometimes he looks very dangerous going forward and his free kick against Man U was top class.

He just seems to not turn up some times, and its so frustrating watching him cos you know theres guys on the bench that would play their heart out out there like Mendes etc.

Newcastle really got to much money and i dont think Viduka is better then Ameobi.
They need stabillety at that club and a new player is not the anser.
Hasselbaink is also 34 and they really need straikers if you want to go for a eufa ticket.

First thing first - Get a new manager!!
Then let him sign the players he wants. Dont give a manager money when his job is hanging by a thread - because what use is it for him to go out buying players he wants, then him getting the sack and the new manager not having money and having to make do with players he may not of necessarily bought given the choice?
