Former Milan midfielder Demetrio Albertini has revealed that he is quitting football at the age of 34.
Albertini has been on the lookout for a new club since leaving Barcelona in the summer, but he will mostly be remembered for a fantastic spell with Milan. In his time at the club between 1989 and 2002, the ex-Azzurri ace won five League titles, one European Cup, two European Super Cups and three Italian Super Cups.
He then went on to play for Atletico Madrid, Lazio and Atalanta before joining Barca in January. "After many years in which I have given my life to this sport, I have decided to leave football," he said. "After a lot of victories and defeats which have helped to form my character, I need new stimuli and objectives, which I will target with the great passion which has always accompanied me."
