Roberto Carlos could leave Real Madrid this month following the sacking of coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.

Qatar football chiefs are willing to offer £7 million for the 32 year-old, whose contract at Real doesn't expire until 2007.

"I have won many titles here and I am not going to leave anything to chance, neither in the sporting part nor in the financial. I am a footballer and I must think about this," said Roberto Carlos.

"If they offer £7 million to the club, they will have to consider it."

Roberto Carlos stands to earn a staggering £8 million-a-year should Real agree to cash in on the Brazil international in the coming weeks.

And with the Ashley Cole rumours of him going to Madrid not going away, this Carlos move could very well happen.....

Nup, chuck him and buy Ashley Cole!

Every football player needs to start thinking of a retirement fund at this stage of their career, as if they dont already have enough money, and Qatar would do this for Carlos.

I don't think He's moving anywhere. Roberto Carlos will retire in Real Madrid, an european club as Cafu will do in Milan. 10 million euros is a good amount for a 32 year old player, but we are talking about Roberto Carlos, and the most of Real Madrid supporters love him and he really deserves a good treatment from Real Madrid, not like Fernando Hierro. And actually, I don't think there are great lefty siders in the world. Ashley Cole is good, but I think He's not Roberto. Same with Del Horno or Van Brockhorst...

Hes one of the best you are going to get! Carlos is great i admit, but he cant play for ever. If you pass up the opportunity to sign Cole now you could very well end up with someone worse in a couple of years time when Carlos really is out the door.

I would like Cole signed for Barça. Barça doesn't need a player in his position but his girlfriend is very beautiful and perhaps we could see her here in Barcelona sometimes Very Happy

back on subject, some tend to fall into the Madrid' type of thinking that if you don't get someone bigger than an Ashley Cole (meaning World Class status such as International 'Silverware'), Roberto Carlos can't be replaced......I have yet to see anyone who says Cole is not the correct player say who is?

This type of mindset is why Real is looking up in the tables at Barcelona.......
