Brazil! They will shock everyone by only scoring three goals in one game while on their way to win it!

Holland...no respect, no seed, young players, and an inexperienced coach going to the big Tourney...

Yeah I'll say Australia, we've some handy players, but the trump card is Hiddink.

Hiddink knows how to succeed, and has some players to do it with.

I think this is the year of USA winning it.

As for upsets, possibly Angola, but Ivory Coast, if they can somehow beat Holland, I think might be the underdogs.

Nope, they are Ranked high enough to be considered a genuine contender, ever since 94 they have gone from strength to strength. The American mentallity is to be the best at everything, they have the league, the facilities, the population, the money, now even the fan base, if not this year they will win it soon.

At 100/1, I have certainly put a few E/W on.

And Ooh, after re-reading the groups, I totally forgot about Ukraine, they have a good chance of upsetting the odds too.

Hi JarlThorfinn.....I'm from the US, and will be hoping for a successful World Cup. But, I think if we were to win the World Cup in Germany it would be a HUGE upset. Even our players and coach are saying what we are shooting for is advancing to the final 8, which we would consider a success. Of course, at that point anything could happen, but with the draw we got and really being realistic, making to the final 8 would make us happy.

And I do believe you are right, the time will come when we will not only get a bit more respect, but will be a nation that will contend. Our playgrounds are filled with kids now playing the game, it's played more than any other youth sport, which we wouldn't have been able to say 10-15 years ago. So, I do believe we are headed in the right direction, but I'm not planning on turning the TV on on July 9th to see us playing in the Final.....But nobody can stop me from dreaming.... Wink

The reason USA have such a high ranking is because they play a lot of small nations around America and usually win easily, same thing in Asia.

As for the upset, I think Ukraine could do well, if Shevchenkomis on form they will have a good chance to progress and they were the first team in Europe to qualify too
