Rafa Benitez has taken the unprecedented step of making public that Liverpool have signed 3 players.

He said: “We have agreements with two young players and one senior player who will be a starting XI player. That deal is already done.”

“We are also making plans for our preseason tour and talking to players here about new contracts.”

The one thing that says to me is -

There is no way Benitez is going anywhere anytime soon.

Good to hear he has money to spend and is doing so. But still, not the best for betting purposes if he stays, all this rotation lark...cant stand it.

I have heard on the grapevine that the senior player we have pretty much signed is Kaladze. I know he is 31 but i believe it is so that he can ease Insua into that position in the near future. I am looking forward to Insua breaking into the first team squad!

This should see the end of Riise and possibly Aurelio, who may then go in the Jan 09 transfer window.

Insua is on a loan deal and is not a permanent signing? Think the deal could go anywhere really.

Have no clue at all who the senior player might be. I hope is a right winger or a left back.

Insua is surely one of the kids.

As for the senior player, i've heard nothing concrete.

Kaladze seems the name on the grapevine.

Damian Escudero could be one.

I am pretty sure Insua is not one of the kids being included in this instance.

Are you pretty sure or do you just not think so?

If you are pretty sure, what do you base that on ?

my mate works at Anfield and finds out a fair bit. He always has the same info mr dmjn100 seems to have. Just what he told me, his informant in this instance let slip while was a bit drunk but wont say anything else. It could be a load of bollox but he has been right on quite a few things over the last 3 years. So going on him, i am pretty sure.

Insua is definitely a Liverpool player - his loan deal was made permanent in an exchange for Paletta in the summer window - so he can't be one of the youngsters we've signed. They will be some obscure players, from South America it's said.

I did think the senior player was Rafinha but you could be spot on Benraul in saying Kaladze - we'll be on the hunt for a left-back, probably an aged one, and Rafa moaned in December that he'd missed out on Kaladze, so if the deal's possible again before the window he may have ceased an opportunity. I said we should sign someone to act as a stop-gap to ease Insua into the first-team and he would provide this nicely, assuming he can hack it.

He would make sense really, as the chances of securing a big name player (or one costing much) at this time is very slim.

And sb5, Villa and Aguero will not be coming to Liverpool, and i wouldn't really expect anyone of that stature to move in the summer. Just a warning, else you might be a little disappointed.

There's no record of Liverpool OFFICIALLY signing Emiliano Insua as far as I am aware.

Pirlo is also being touted as the "senior player" with Alonso moving to Spain.
