West Brom manager Bryan Robson believes his side were denied two clear-cut penalties by referee Steve Bennett as Blackburn dented their Barclays Premiership survival hopes by drawing at The Hawthorns.

Brett Emerton's second-half strike cancelled out a spectacular free-kick from Baggies midfielder Kieran Richardson.

But Robson felt Bennett should have awarded first-half spot-kicks for a foul on Kevin Campbell by Andy Todd and then handball against Lucas Neill to keep out a shot from Ronnie Wallwork.

Robson said: "I think the referee didn't help us one little bit because I thought there were two blatant penalty decisions which went against us.

"We never seem to get anything at The Hawthorns for whatever reason ever since I have been here as manager.

"The foul from Andy Todd on Kevin Campbell was a nailed-on penalty and then Lucas Neill puts his hands up in the air to stop a goalbound shot from Wallwork and for me it's a blatant penalty.

"We've got two really good shouts for a penalty, didn't get them as usual, but then we've got to look at ourselves as well.

"There's no point in collaring the referee about what happened because all you do is get fined but the referee should have a look at his decision-making.

"I think quite a few should look at their decision-making when they come to this place because we never seem to get a thing.

"I don't know why it is but in other games I see on TV, teams who are struggling too seem to get decisions go for them more than a club like West Brom."

Robson did admit: "I think overall Blackburn deserved something out of the game.

"I thought we did okay in the first half and a great goal from Kieran Richardson put us in front.

"You know that Blackburn are always going to be difficult to break down so when we got the goal I was thinking we would be very difficult to break down as well.

"The best spell of the game for us was the first 10 minutes of the second half when we have a golden opportunity (from Neil Clement) to go 2-0 up which would have calmed the lads' nerves and won us the game.

"But we didn't take it and Blackburn came into the game and looked the more dangerous side once they had scored as a bit of anxiousness and nerves came into our play. That's understandable when we are in the position we are in."

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes said: "In the first half we were okay but some of our passing was very erratic and we were really struggling to find a little bit of tempo in our play.

"I still felt we were the better side in the first half but it was a great strike by Kieran Richardson, a fantastic goal.

"Maybe that shocked us a little bit. It was only the second goal we have conceded away from home since New Year's Day.

"I made a change at the start of the second half. I brought Tugay on because I felt we needed his composure on the ball, his passing ability, to get us going again, and that worked well.

"Our passing was better and we got more width in our play and we got more balls in the box. It led to the goal and it could have led to more goals later on.

"In the second half we deserved to get back into the game and on reflection we deserved to win the game."
