I watch quite a few of the Reserve games on Liverpool tv and he really does stand out. For someone making such an impressive debut against such a strong outfit for me speaks volumes. I am not going to go overboard. We have done this on many instances with players with big reputations that fail to deliver but i think this lad will be very good. I would already play him instead of Lucas. For me every attribute of his game is already better than lucas. I do not see one stand out quality that lucas rings to the team. i know he is young and this is his first season but he has to improve a great deal for him to convince me.

Lucas today did set up both the Benayoun chance and Voronin's second. His forte lies in incisive passing and i think anyone watching the Carling Cup game against Chelsea would have seen that - he thrives in advanced positions and playing the final balls. Similar to Gerrard his simple pass can be poor though, which is why i don't think he'll ever replace Alonso as the natural assumption seems to be. I think the main problem with him is the pace in England - games have a tendency to fly him by and he doesn't get the time on the ball that he requires. If he can improve and adapt there i feel we'll see a radical change in him. I remain hopeful.

Personally, i think he's best suited to Gerrard's attacking midfield position and would use him as his replacement/cover. He did that in the said Carling Cup match and excelled. He can tackle too, but, much like Luis Garcia was, he can be a liability in deeper positions with giving the ball away.

I personally do not see him making it in a Liverpool shirt. I know he is best suited to a more advanced role. I believe he was purchased with the underastanding he will one day replace our captain, however, i do not see any him possesing any qualities that make me believe he will ever be good enough. I do not see any stand out qualities in his game. Todays midfielder must have qualities in attacking and defending. If he is outstanding at one you can look past him not being up to scratch at the other. He lacks pace, i do not think he is that good at tackling, and i have not been that impressed with his passing. It is his first season in a new league in a new country and he is still young. Hopefully he will improve, but currently, i do not think he is good enough.

On a seperate issue, i wish people would stop harping on about Arsenal's penalty shout. It was never in a million years a penalty! Clutching at straws to hide the fact you played awfully and Liverpool, with a far from strong team, played very well.

Why was Wenger even allowed a "transitional period"? Surely once you get a side to a certain height, as he did, it's your responsibility as a manager to maintain that, by repeatedly blooding players in as the team that is so successful continues being such, so that they can gradually be replaced. Instead Wenger decided to dismantle his side in a matter of years and create a new one from scratch - that ain't the way you do it. Sure, you might have a dip between two great sides, but nearly being fifth and going trophyless for 3 seasons isn't really acceptable.

It shows the leniency that he now has with the job though. It's far too cushy and i've heard plenty of Gunner's dissatisfied with him and their lack of trophies.

At the moment he obviously isn't good enough, but i personally have seen enough to suggest he's got talent. As i said, for me it's a case of environment, and had he gone to Italy (with Inter Milan reportedly interested before we signed him) he would have thrived. It's different here and he doesn't get the time that he wants, which he has to adapt to. If he can i fully believe he'll replace Gerrard - but only time will tell.

Because in the same trophyless seasons he has made the Club more successful than it's ever been in other ways. The financial growth and the quality of the Club overall has been boosted massively in the past few years just because of Wenger.

If he did spend £20m on each player and battle other super European spending Clubs for big names then we probably wouldn't have this fantastic stadium or this super healthy financial position.

Building takes time, especially when you aren't spending on football matters like the other Clubs around you. We don't spend £25m on our Striker unlike Liverpool - most of our First XI costs less than that. Still we are able to compete at the highest levels and this season is not over yet. It's a big step up and if this team continues to grow then it'll be competing for many, many years. The best player is Cesc and he's 20, so you can work out how long he could stay at the Club until he peaks - and if he leaves we've got more young talent in the squad and due to arrive and more due to blossom - like Vela, Merida etc.

I'm more than satisfied with Wenger's work at Arsenal. From the rebuilding of the squad to the building of the new stadium to the superb health of the Club to the style of the football. I'm happy with the outlook of our future and the potential of this current squad. Football fans are fickle mostly though, so you're bound to get fools who doubt the guy's work and/or ability as a Manager here.

Do you think theres a case for Wenger to be put in charge of all football operations at Arsenal but getting someone else to coach the first team?

Wengers strengths seem to be in ensuring the footballing aspects at Arsenal are healthy and consistent right thru the different teams both in playing and financial terms but is he too hung up on this to make the right decisions for the first team playing staff?

Even though we could see another trophyless season for Arsenal, there is no way he deserves to get sacked, or even spoke about in such terms.

OK, his team have suffered from squeaky bum time but not many people would have tipped Arsenal to have sustained a title challenge for this long. Also, they've done pretty well in the Champions' League by knocking out the holders AC Milan.

All this after SELLING arguably their best ever player Thierry Henry. So all things considered, Wenger's done pretty well to get them this far. The trouble is some glory hunting fans will be frustrated wondering where the next Cup is coming from, instead of appreciating how much success the Frenchman has brought to the club. Isn't he their most successful manager ever? Even Herbert Chapman hadn't won what he has.

Oh I do hope the fans turn against him. It would be the stupidest thing since some United fans turned on Ferguson.

I don't know why I bother to watch their analysis anymore.

Liverpool reserves get a well deserved point from the Emirates (a result we were never expecting) and what's the story? Poor old Arsenal robbed as incident that happens about 10 times in a game is not penalised.

I could expect all that but to overlook Plessis playing his first ever prem game and looking like very assured while doing so was bang out of order.

Exactly my sentiments! The analysis is pootrand and don't know how Gavin Peacock got a job with the BBC. He sat on the fence later on in the programme about that Bentley penalty claim, he isnt paid to sit on the fence! To many so called experts sit on the fence and are afraid to upset people by saying what they really think.

Ferdiand, Terry or whoever else is favoured kicks the [beep!] out of an opponent and gets away with sly foul "Ah that's experienced defending."

Liverpool player dares to try and stop someone scoring in the same manner "it needs to be dealt with Team X have been robbed of 3 points today."

Lee Dixon and Gavin Peacock. Who'se next Stan Collymore and Rooney?

then again you have the undeniable bias of Lawro and Hansen spouting sh*t all the time. kind of balances any injustices out i feel. also pinnochio on Sky is even worse.

I'll give you thommo he is so ridiculously bias it is untrue but Lawro and Hansen hate us mate. They have ex player "everything was better when we were there" syndrome. Hansen has been against Rafa from day one and Lawro is a muppet who sees who finished 1st and 2nd the year before and picks the wrong one out of the 2 to win it EVERY YEAR!

i agree they have the 'ex player syndrome' as you put it!

but the point is that their presence on the show increases the involvement of Liverpool on the show given unwarranted airtime for an often boring game while they drone on and on about it for better or worse. he may be anti rafa but he is certainly not anti Liverpool. you cant say they hate you, thats wild exaggeration!
