Man U. got 2 goals from Louis Saha and another from Ji-Sung Park to knock Birmingham out and book thier 3rd semi's in the last 4 years. Birmingham's Jiri Jarosik got a goal in the 74th minute.
In the other game, Wigan got goals from Jason Roberts in the 40th and 45th minute to book them into the semi's as well. Of note, In their short 27-year existence as a league club, the only two prior occasions Wigan have appeared in any semi-final is when they won the Freight Rover Trophy in 1985 and then the Auto Windscreens Shield six years ago. |
