Lead story on sky Franz beckenbauer's comments on foreign player gives Sky the chance to bash he Gunners again. It's not a new topic so why now.it wasn't like a fifa summit on the issue, but i guess Sky are a bit desperate to keep the iron hot in their quest to build more animosity towards the mighty Arsenal.
4 teams in the Champions League quarters and every team has a heavy foreign presence ,what does it tell you?Dear old Franz needs to shut up and go over to England and see the youth development and find out why they ain't good enough. |

perhaps it would be helpful if you copied and pasted the offending article... if its not too much trouble. i have taken the liberty of doing this myself, here it is...
now from what i can gather that is all fair comment really. what exactly do you take issue with? Sky have simply reported on some comments made by an influential figure in the sport. nothing he says there is controversial or untrue. where is his Arsenal agenda? he simply points out that they are an extreme with regards to foreign imports... thats the truth. he also goes on to say that in his country 80-90% of teams are like that. hardly full of animosity is he. the most laughable part of it is you having the cheek to talk down to a man like Franz Beckebauer. im sure Franz could learn a lot from a man like you. |

Perhaps that is why Specnur didn't quote the actual story? What Beckenbauer said was perfectly reasonable, and accurate. It's laughable that Specnur tries to claim some sort of "anomiosity" posed towards his beloved Arsenal when if anything Beckenbauer was defending them, saying the situation is/has been no different in other countries. |

I agree with Franz Beckenbauer apart from England are still one of the best teams in the world.
England are not one of the best teams in the world. I wouldn't say we were even in the top 10 of the best teams. It is one of worst England sides I've seen for a long time. |

The Premier League is the best league in the world because it combines English fans and aspects of the traditional english game with the more technically gifted foreign players.
England prove time and time again that without the foreigners to add the quality that the English lads with true quality are few and far between. I can see nothing wrong with what der kaiser has said. |

How can he say that it was an accident that england lost to croatia! with no disrespect to the mentally challenged ,that is retarded. They had to draw and they lost ,they are NOT good enough.Franz.B. was kissing *ss because he was asked a certain question by a British reporter. Call it being diplomatic if you want, i call him being spineless because he's just being a fifa official. The facts are . 1. Top four teams in the league have a heavy foreign presence. 2.t Those same teams still remain in the champs league quarter finals. 3. The National team never made it into Europe. = British players are not good enough. Like it or not. Now Sky will try and paint the picture that British players are suffering because of the foreign influx,in an attempt to deflect attention away from the lack of technical ability of their countrymen. Sir Trev had the b*lls to say it so why not listen. That same Arsenal team almost won the Champs league with 10 (foreign) men. I have always said that the prem is the best in the world and Arsenal are only as good as what they are because they are in the Prem, with that aggressive style of play. There is nothing actually wrong with most of what he said i took issue with a few comments. My problem is why Sky are reporting on this matter last week ,what made this a lead story.I find it bizarre and completely out of the blue.It has no relation to the recent topics of respect or dirty play or the massive champ league games that we are in the middle of. Rather than be proud of the fact that British teams are at the forefront of the modern game they would rather quote somebody talking about it in a negative light. Foreign players in the league is not a negative it's a positive ,if they weren't here the league would be sh*t.They need to focus on why British talent is hard to find and why they lag behind every other established footballing country. |

Your wrong steely
Beckenbauer to work as social ambassador for FIFA May 28, 2007, 10:52 GMT Zurich - Franz Beckenbauer will work as a social ambassador for FIFA when he becomes a member of of the organization's Executive Committee later this week. 'This fits in very well with my ideas and thoughts. Internationally, I am very interested in supporting the poorest FIFA members,' the 61-year-old football legend said in an interview published Monday on the website of the German football federation DFB. Beckenbauer, who will replace Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder on the FIFA Executive Committee Thursday, added that South Africa required total support in hosting the 2010 World Cup. 'The pride of all of Africa hangs on this World Cup,' he said. Joseph Blatter will also be voted FIFA president for a third term at the Congress as the 71-year-old Swiss is the only candidate for the post. 'This is a great sign of confidence in me and demonstrates the unity within the football family,' said Blatter, who has already held the post for nine years. http://sport.monstersandcritics.com/soccer/article_1310213.php So aswell as Bayern he also works for Fifa |

You did go on to say " now i dont claim to be an expert on The Kaiser but i dont think he works for FIFA or indeed could ever be described as a FIFA official... i could be wrong but im quite sure he has no dealings with them in an employment sense". No point with this statement. Your just making things up. |

dont you get tired of following people around like a stalker? first floody, now me.
what are you on about 'no point' with it? i didnt make anything up, i was questioning the claim that he worked for FIFA as i was unsure (which i clearly stated). that was the point. i was interested to know if he did work for them and as that fact seemed to centre arond specnurs rant it was obviously quite important to the topic at hand. Next. |

At this juncture some would gloat.I will move on with class. My point was why are sky giving this lead story coverage, when we are in the middle of Champions League quarters amongst other things. It has no relevance whatsoever and is nothing but a sad attempt at sh*t stirring. They used Arsenal's name in the opening to the show concerning this topic in an obvious attempt to sway public opinion make no mistake about it. I mean if your the average Brit this kind of "subliminal" brainwashing will go unnoticed, but to me it's obvious what they are trying to do,because the story came out of nowhere and was basically an item last year. |
