Thanks Captain Obvious |
|
I recently saw on Skysports.com that Rooney_79586.shtml'>Wayne Rooney has said this...
"If we can go through to the end of the season unbeaten in the league we have a great chance of winning it," Isn't it rather obvious that they would definately win the league if they can win their last 6 games, its not mathematically possible for Chelsea or Arsenal or whoever to win it. I think Rooney is just a bit dumb??? |

I think it's a bit unfair to single out Rooney_79586.shtml'>Wayne Rooney. Lot's of DUMB things are said by managers, players and commentators in ALL sports, and some quotes are very funny. I'm sure we all have our favourites "I'm not a believer in luck.....but I believe you need it" - Alan Ball "The 33 or 34 year olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around......if they are not careful" - Kevin Keegan "More football later, but first let's see the goals from the Scottish Cup Final" - Des Lyneham "I honestly believe we can go all the way to Wembley, unless someone knocks us out" - Dave Basset "Jimmy Hill - don't sit on the fence Terry, what chance have Gernmany got of going through? Venables - I think it's 50:50" "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered." - George Best "I never comment on referees, and I'm not going to break the habit of a lifetime for that prat!" - Ron Atkinson "We didn't underestimate them, they were a lot better than we thought" - Bobby Robson "Richard keys - Well Roy do you think you will have to finish above Manchester United to win the league? Roy Evans - You have to finish above everybody to win the league Richard!" Taken from the website http://www.rightresult.net/about/ |

I don't see what's wrong with that statement by Richard Keys (aka hairy hands). All he was asking was do you think Man Utd will be the team to beat i.e. you can finish above Man Utd and still not win, just like Liverpool did under Houllier and Ranieri did a few seasons ago. |

I think that is rather obvious to be honest. The scouse sense of humour seems to have gone over your head. Roy was taking the p*ss out of Richard |

I know Roy Evans was taking the p!ss you donkey! I'm just saying that Richard Keys was made to look dumb like the rest of the halfwits on that list who did make dumb statements, but in Keys' case there was nothing wrong with his statement in the first place. |

You're wrong son. Firstly, I'm no donkey and I would hazard a guess that your level of education is somewhat less than my professional qualifications. Secondly, the question was worded as an open invitation to be ridiculed by someone with intelligence and wit. Thirdly, Roy was simply pointing out that fact with typical scouse humour. We obviously differ in opinion on this one. I believe the question was DUMB because it was an open invitation to be ridiculed. You disagree....let's leave it at that without the insults. |

I called you a donkey only because you incorrectly assumed I didn't get Evans' humour. Sorry if you took offence - it wasn't personal. You're right that the question lacked clarity, I accept that. Maybe it's just that I see where Richard Keys was coming from, hence the question didn't seem as silly as it looked. PS - I'm also pretty well educated, but regardless of that I love your "professional qualifications" line above. I'll watch out for you on next season's The Apprentice |

Ahhh i figured out how i got confused. On Skysports, the main article said that if they win all their games they will win, but when i went into the actual article it was the actual quote from Rooney and he said if they can remain unbeaten. But still my fault for the mistake.

Actually you are wrong ,he didn't say winning all the remaining games,he said "unbeaten".That means they can draw all their games Like Arsenal when they were on top a few weeks ago never lost any games really but drew them all which put them where they are. |
