Aberdeen are in talks with
Tottenham about taking two of their fringe players on-loan.
Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood revealed: "I know Martin Jol is a pal of mine but even so I don't think friendship would extend to £24,000 each week to give us these players.
"I couldn't believe it when he told me they were on £600,000-a-year each but that shows how difficult it is to get English players to move to the SPL, even on a temporary basis.
"We have to live within our budget but that doesn't mean we still aren't looking down there for players who will improve the squad in the new year."
