I forgot to mention, big round of applause to both sets of supporters - from what I have seen, read and heard, they were a credit to both clubs.

It was as though they really made the most of the day - it felt like how the FA Cup Final always used to feel like when watching it as a young boy, special.

Perhaps its a case that the fans of the big boys almost take a day out at a final for granted?

yeah completely agree about the supporters. i think a lot of people were expecting a fair bit of trouble. a lot of people i know thought that the Cardiff fans might play up and cause a scene, but they didnt Smile i think they probably realised how massive the occasion was and that it wont be happening again any time soon, so they just wanted to get as much as they could out of the day and just enjoy it.

Your right sparky. The occasion meant more to both sets of fans then it had to the big four fans in the previous years. I remember when We played Man United at Cardiff in the semi final a few years ago. Our fans were twice as good as theirs. The reason for this is because we had to make the most of the occasion while the Man United fans knew they would be going to the final. They were also used to finals and semi finals.

Twmcat - just out of interest, would you mind mind if people constantly referred to your National Anthem as dirge?

precisely.

he is just a bitter taffy, angry and jealous at the fact he resides within an inferior country to England. its quite sad really.

oh and the team are called Cardiff not Caerdydd. the rules state we must post in english so please keep your random jumble of letters, useless inbred language off the forum.

OK Steely - I've just seen this.

The English National anthem sounds like a dirge to me - that is not just my opinion, but the opinion of many English people too.

I'm not bitter or angry or jealous.

I'm getting fed up with your English nationalism and saying anyone lives in a country if they don't live in England is living in an inferior country is just unpleasant.

Caerdydd is the capital of Wales, not Cardiff, as you English people prefer to call it, but I accept that you prefer to use English names for towns / cities - eg Seville for Sevilla, Rome for Roma etc, and I assume most non-English members accept that sort of thing.

But - telling me to "keep your random jumble of letters, useless inbred language off the forum" is totally unacceptable.

You have had an offical warning - you are now banned,.

well the welsh language is useless. where in the world is there a use for it other than wales? even half the welsh dont speak it. as for inbred... thats not just my opinion, its the opinion of many others, welsh people included.

i will respond with the same attitude i recieve. you are constantly slating england and the english and when i reply in the same manner you throw your toys out of the pram. think about it.

oh, do you refer to that German team as 'Bayern Munchen'? id bet any money that you would call them Bayern Munich. being as virtually nobody speaks welsh it would be helpful if you used the english spelling.. as this is an english forum with rules against the usage of foreign languages. ive been to cariff 3 times and ive never met a single person who referred to their city as anything other than Cardiff. the name of the football team is Cardiff City. you may argue the city name all you like, the football team name is Cardiff City Football Club. simple as that.

the funny thing about all this is that i like the welsh. if you care to take a look at any of my posts about welsh people they have always been respectful - heck, check that welsh thread in the general forum if you like. you are merely the exception. i treat you with the contempt you treat my country. you are racist and you can not even see it.

you must have forgotten to press the banned button Wink however if you feel like you get another rush of blood to the head make sure you do it properly next time. i am happy to take my business elsewhere. the place has been to the gutter recently and i have been as pleased as anyone that this has changed for the btter due in no small part to the obvious action taken, against your wishes undoubtedly, in banning your good mate. if you feel the forum would benefit from my banning and his coming back then by all means go for it. i really dont care. my life does not revolve around this forum. there are other places to go.

OK - if you don't like it, I'm sorry.

I was getting a bit fed up when people were sending me texts when I was on my hols saying that Steely was being nasty about me.

That didn't bother me as I wasn't able to see what he was saying, so who cares?

But, I wanted to post about the final , and I saw his nastiness yet again.

Johal - you seem to accept he was wrong about Caerdydd, but don't you you think " so please keep your random jumble of letters, useless inbred language off the forum" is not insulting?

There are a lot of people who are unhappy about him, and I'm willing to put my head on the block here.

Jamesy - I know you like to argue with Steely, and maybe you can in the future, but I won't be here if it is happening

Laughing Laughing people were sending texts while you were on holiday about a post on a forum!!? what on earth! ive never heard anything like it! perhaps i need to get myself a clique, thats where im going wrong. all this one man army suff doesnt help me one bit!!

you are a grown man mate, act like it for crying out loud. you give it out but are not willing to take it. why even say what you said? did it add anything to the topic? why use the term 'dirge'? you think thats not offensive? i certainly find it offensive, particularly when accompanied by the scores of other anti-english and racist comments aimed at Enlagnd and the Monarchy. others it seems also find your posts offensive. have i ever come out with a 'nationalist' statement for no reason towards you? i highly doubt it, my posts are almost always in direct reply to an unwarranted and offensive post you have made towards my nation. dont make yourself out to be a victim here because you are anything but that.

Laughing put your head on the block? what a trooper. oh, who is upset with me? could it possibly be Bluenose's clique??? what a huge shock to the system that is.

id like every single one of you people that are unhappy with me to send me a PM explaining exactly why you are unhappy with me, what i have done to offend or upset you and how you genuinely feel about me.

we can then discuss things individually and like adults rather than leaving things simmering and merely disliking somebody because somebody else does. i expect my inbox to be bulging judging by what twmcat says here.

wont be here? refer to my earlier comments.

I have to ask this question though: is this an English forum or one that represents the UK? It's www.football.co.uk you see. I'm not being funny here, just asking an honest question. I understand that we should communicate in English, but Twmcat merely said one word in Welsh, and that's because he's Welsh and the place is Welsh. I don't think there's anything wrong in that - I'd expect our German forumers to refer to it as Bayern Munchen the same way I'd expect our Italian forumers to call it Roma not Rome. Saying a name in a foreign language is OK in my humble opinion, so long as the sentence to which it belongs is in English. Otherwise, how English shall we go? Christian Ronald instead of Cristiano Ronaldo perhaps? Laughing Wink

In all honesty mate, I'm astonished that the mere mention of one word "Caerdydd" has greatly offended you. I agree that is a very bizarre language though, it's weird watching S4C and seeing these guys talk like that. Again, just merely my humble opinion Smile

1. acronym referencing "crack whores and blow". These are the common and the necessary ingredients to a good bachelor party, a successful SEC football weekend, a good fraternity blowout, a weekend at the ski lodge, etc. Especially popular in the Mid-South.

2. "cutie with a bootie"

"aww look at him he is such a cwab"

it didnt offend me. not in the slightest.

the term 'dirge' offended me and the many many other digs at england and the english offend me. each time i have replied to those posts in the same manner as i have recieved them. he thinks my country's national anthem is a 'dirge' (look up that word if you wish to know why i find it offensive) and feels it necessary to post that while im not allowed to post my views on the welsh language. its comical.

i added the Cardiff part in my second post as he made an issue of it. my first mention of it was as a light hearted dig back at his usage of a 'foreign language'. i was messing about.

Oh yes - while I'm still here I'll reply to the prick Laughing

Quote:

"What does dirge mean? we found 1 entry for the meaning of dirge

Dirge \Dirge\, n. [Contraction of Lat. dirige, direct thou (imperative of dirigere), the first word of a funeral hymn (Lat. transl. of Psalm v. Cool beginning, ``Dirige, Domine, in conspectu tuo vitam meam.'' See Direct, a., and cf. Dirige.]

A piece of music of a mournful character, to accompany funeral rites; a funeral hymn."

That sounds right to me Wink

It's quite funny that Steely's reply was posted just one minute after O Dogg got a reply from him after sending him a PM about a complaint Very Happy

This is probably my last post on here, as I've resigned as admin, and am surprised that no-one has managed to delete me yet.

I just want to say to the English people here, who won't probably see my leaving post, that the comment I made about the English national anthem was mainly about the tune - it seems to fit the quote I posted above.
Despite the fact I'm an atheist and a republican, I respect English people's rights to their anthem (although I notice England players like Gary Neville never join in the singing).

I do think that England should have "Land of Hope and Glory", "Jerusalem" or "Rule Britannia" though - far more suitable - singable and pleasant.

As far as my supposed digs at English people are concerned, I absolutely do not disrespect English people in general.
As I said elsewhere, I travelled 600 miles to support the England women's team - hardly disrespectful you might say?

Politically, I don't like my small country being governed by the whims of the electorate - if the Tories win the next election, they will be making decisions about us in Wales although we're guaranteed to have very few Tory MPs again in our country.

Anyway - I'm off Wink

I think that nokia vote tally is testament to the fact that the majority of people don't understand football and are more impressed with something that is more superficial and sensational. You got the press to blame for the dumbing of the masses , with their constant barrage of hype based paper selling garbage. I see no end in sight to this though ,just the struggle to maintain my sanity.

All hail Avram Grant, if not only for his honesty and unflappable demeanor in the face of half wit "football journalist".
