Thierry Henry is being lined up to rival David Beckham as the face of US football.

The French striker has been targeted to launch the newly-formed Seattle team when they make their MLS debut next year.

And the franchise's multi-billionaire owner Paul Allen will tempt Henry with a deal worth £150,000 a week, according to reports in The Sun.

Henry, 30, only joined Barcelona in a £16.1million move from Arsenal last June. But the Spanish giants are planning a summer clear-out after slumping to third place in La Liga.

And Henry could go despite having more than three years left on his £128,000-a-week deal.

Henry has 14 goals in 38 games but is playing on the left wing.

This would be awesome! Im getting season tickets for them next season and he would make me go mental if he came!!

I don't think he will. He has stated he wouldn't mind playing in the MLS because he loves America (more precisely, New York). But I don't think it'll happen yet (or at all). He's only 30, he still has a good 4, maybe 5 years in him.

On the other hand, being a Gooner, I would be devastated by our legend to play in a league like the MLS. It would ... bringing his legacy down a bit, even if it is to finish off his career.

This would be extremely unlikely in my opinion, and if it were to happen i would lose all respect for Henry as a player. As Dylan says, he is only thirty years of age and even if he were to leave Barca i have no doubt that he would have offers flying in from top clubs around Europe.

well ...i could understand when David Beckham chose to play there .....34 and maybe past his best . Thierry Henry though is only 30 and i would lose major respect for him if he decided to go there now , probably just media hype as usual ....
