Well there is some debate about the best player ever, so what does this site think?( I thought about putting Titus Bramble in but he's to good for everyone

I would have to say Pele for cosumate proffessional too but surely Bobby Moore must come into the catagory - I would have voted for Him!

Bobby Moore was excellent but I don't think he could be considered best player in the world Ever. Although I should have included Eusebio and Puskas(also others).

I have to say Pele too. All the players above are class is different positions but Pele has to be the overall best.

Pele. I agree, Bobby Moore should be on there, and Eusebio, i would have voted for the Portugese legend! In ten years or so, Thierry Henry will be included in that list, probably!

What about a poll for "Who could have been the best player ever"? vote would have to go to Gazza! He could have been easily the best player in the world, but decided to involve himself in beer and fags!

I plumped for Pele but Maradonna or Bestie would fit the bill just as well. Cruyff was a genius, a one man footie team! Platini and Beckenbauer will always be second rate to me. My Personal favorite, however is the 'Gentle Giant' - John Charles! A brilliant all rounder who graced the field for Leeds back in the day when you played footie in workboots (late 40s early 50s). He could score from any position (center half and center forward) and was loved in Italy. He showed he could adapt to any style of play and score for fun. Shame he was welsh, tho...

Why is it funny that Pele is winning?

Where is Makelele? IMO he is the greatest ever holding player but he seems to go unoticed. People call the holding role the 'makelele-role' - thats how good he is - a position gets named after him. Zidane should also be on that list along with Maldini.

I voted Pele - for his acheivements more than anything else.

I'm not old enough to have seen enough of his play (or most of the other players) to be able to pass judgement on 'who was the best player ever'. Football was a different game in Pele's generation so its difficult to compare.
