Rafa: : "Luton made it very difficult for us and they did a very good job. Steven Gerrard scored a brilliant goal to give us the lead then we just went to sleep. And by the time we had woken up, we were 2-1 down.

"At half time I told the players we needed to do more and show that we are a better team than them. We had to find solutions to the problems we had in the first half and we needed to use the wingers more. Sinama Pongolle did very well when he came on and he, Gerrard and Cisse caused Luton problems.

"I was always confident that we could come back and win this game. Xabi Alonso played very well for us in the second half and played like a really good holding midfielder. He scored two fantastic goals."

8 Jan 2006 - Rafael Benitez has declared himself unhappy with Liverpool's performance in the thrilling 5-3 FA Cup success at Luton and accused his players of complacency.

"The problem was we scored too early and we thought the game was going to be easy. When we woke up the score was 3-1 to them. We got back into it and kept going forward, but you cannot afford to wait until the second half to play. I was not happy with the performance. We gifted them so many chances."
