Atletico Madrid have denied reports suggesting Fernando Torres is on the verge of signing for Manchester United.

The 22-year-old Spain international, who enjoyed a successful World Cup, has been linked with a £20million switch to Old trafford as United boss Sir Alex Ferguson looks to sign a replacement for Ruud van Nistelrooy.
