Riise: We'll halt Blues march |
|
John Arne Riise is backing Liverpool to halt Chelsea's bid for a trophy treble when the two sides clash at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League.
The Blues go into Tuesday's semi-final second leg having already wrapped up the Premiership title with victory at Bolton on Saturday, as well as winning the Carling Cup in February. But Norway international Riise is confident the Stamford Bridge outfit will not be adding the European Cup to their trophy cabinet this season. He said: "We know about their record away from home. They are strong defensively, don't concede many goals and score a lot. "They are a strong team but so are we and hopefully we will come out on top." "The players are going to need mental strength and have to work hard because it is going to be a tough game. "Both teams now need a goal to go to the final so at the beginning of the game it could be a bit tactical to see how each other are playing. "But we are going to be up for it and we are going to try and get a goal. When we do we just need to keep on going." |
