What a game we are in for. Two of the most decorated clubs in the world come head to head in this mouth-watering encounter. The stakes are high as a Champions League Final awaits the winners. These two sides havn't met since United's 'Treble' winning season.

I think both sides are evenly match in terms of quality and both have individual match winners all over the pitch. Barca have suffered in form of late but this will only make them determined to please the crowd and get something of the season. The Champions League is prietty much all they have to play for with Madrid running away with La Liga.
As for Manchester United they are 'Europes in-form team' at the moment according to Barca striker Thierry henry. Ronaldo's and Rooney's individual quality's and the overall teamwork of the United squad will surley give Barca a test at the Camp Nou.

SAF rested key players such as Ronaldo and Rooney in the tie with Roma at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and with the game against Arsenal on Sunday he as shown he wants to win both the domestic league and lift the European Cup.

I think a 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou and then another excellent night at Theatre of Dreams the following week. Very Happy

Enjoy.

If are the tickets that Barça give to United (5,000) 300-600 pounds can't be the price of the ticket, this price has to include all.

so who do Man Utd want in the final ....Liverpool or Chelsea ......not sure who would be better really . Chelsea may be harder to break down but Liverpool will have all the luck i guess .

There isn't much difference in the style of play of these two teams (Chelsea/Liverpool) according to the football intellectual Jorge Valdano - It's 'Sh!t Hanging From A Stick'.

I would personally like to play Liverpool so that we can firmly put them in their place once and for all. I believe that we have the easier semi-final and that both Chelsea and Liverpool would beat Barcelona. I believe that POOL fans, IF they are lucky enough to get past Chelsea AGAIN, will be praying for a Barcelona win, because if they have to face us in the final, they KNOW they may as well not bother turning up. The ONLY problem with the 'playing Liverpool in the final' scenario is that WE would never hear the last of it from Liverpool fans about how great their team is because they will have appeared in 3 recent European cup finals, and I don't think I could stomach that. I reckon United would rather face Liverpool. Chelsea, on form, are a top side and alot mroe phsyical than any of the remaining teams. This season, Liverpool have tried to revert from the long ball, boring football that had them associated with Chelsea over the past few seasons. They have actually tried to play abit of football and United will know that there is no team on the planet at the minute that is better than them at playing 'proper' football.

Anyway, all this talk about who United would prefer in the final gives me a sense of deja vu. This time last year, United fans were planning how to get to Greece or were they'll watch the United v Liverpool final, despite the fact that had to overcome a world class side before they get there! Well I for one, hope it's a repeat of last (Barca instead of Milan)

I'm not too sure who Utd will want in the final depending if we get there. Barcelona are a very good team domestically and in Europe. Both legs will be a massive challenge for Utd to go on and beat Barca. I hope we do lol.

I personally think L'pool will once again beat Chelsea and progress throughto the final. Liverpool's European form and history at this stage of the campaign are very good and past results from these two teams will favour a L'pool win.

So if it is a Manchester United / L'pool final as it was thought last year I don't think we can go into the match thinking we can beat them as easily as we did in the league. The Champions League is the only thing L'pool have to play for so they'll be all guns out. No, not Gunners out, guns out, haha.

It will be interesting to see who does progress.

Come on UTD.

Seems to me that a lot of the corners of the media, forums etc. are already putting United down as favourites to go past Barca here... I'm not so sure myself, I think that Barca have more than enough to defeat United home and away. Of course form comes into it and anything can happen on the night but I see it as more 50/50 myself and to be truthful if my life depended on having to predict who would succeed then I'd go for Barcelona.

What Fergie needs to do is to set that midfield out to run the Barca midfield off the pitch, they can't be given any free time on the ball at all because if they do get it they will carve their way through. This may mean playing both Carrick and Hargreaves defensively for the first leg at least but it's a decision he has to take. There have been too many close calls in this Champions League knock-out stage for my liking, the results will cloud that somewhat but I said it in the wake of getting past Lyon and when we beat Roma that if we were facing more clinical opposition we may have been punished.

I will bite my lip on this one until I see how we fair against Arsenal and Blackburn whilst keeping an eye on Barca's matches against Recreativo and Espanyol, the run of form heading into these ties will give us a good view into how the teams are formwise and then we can talk predictions. Both teams need to stay away from injuries and those scheduled to be back in time, have to do just that but overall it's certainly shaping up to be a tie of epic proportions. They will miss Puyol though, I hope Wink

This is what the European Champions' League should be about: two teams full of attacking intent - not the "sh!t on a stick" that Roonanialdo has mentioned about the other tie.

Right, so who do I think will win this one...my head says Man Utd, my heart says Barcelona. It depends on the fitness of four key players: Messi and Deco for Barca, Rio and Vidic for Man Utd. Personally, I'd like to see them all play and get this show on right now!! It should be a mouthwatering battle.

I'd like to see the winner of this tie win the tournament.

Don't think that Deco plays and I hope that doesn't because doesn't deserve to play. If Marquez can play in my opinion the team should be: Valdes; Zambrotta, Marquez, Milito, Abidal; Toure, Xavi, Iniesta; Messi, Bojan, Eto'o. And in the second leg Puyol should play, then Zambrotta or Marquez out.

No Henry? I don't think Bojan should start in a match like that because he's very young and inexperienced. I'd prefer to see him come off the bench and make an impact in that fashion. I'd rather have Deco than Iniesta but I respect your opinion because you've seen far more of Barca this season than I have (I presume).

Henry is a disaster, he hasn't played well during all the season and Bojan is one of the best Barça players in the last weeks. And the problem with Deco is that his attitude hasn't been good during all the season, similar to Ronaldinho, for this reason I think that would be fair that the players that have helped Barça to play the semis are who have to play.

Don't forget that we play Chelsea away before the second leg whereas Barca play Deportivo, whom they should defeat easily....

League is important for United but not a lot for Barça, for example Henry, Iniesta and Bojan aren't on the list to play tomorrow. Messi is back and tomorrow will play some minutes, more minutes against Espanyol next week and will be ready to play against United.

Yes of course, it's a very good point because Chelsea obviously have the same problem in their tie against Liverpool. To balance it up, both of you are at home in the second leg.

It'll be a blockbuster week of football, that's for sure. I'll just sit back, grab a few beers and enjoy the show. If I get bored, I can always pull out that DVD of Spurs winning the Carling Cup Very Happy

Either that, or Debbie Does Dallas. Either will do Wink

With Liverpool versus Chelsea on display? Laughing

To be honest though i've cringed at some United fans saying who they'd rather in the final - maybe focussing on Barcelona would be beneficial? I would've thought you'd of taken anyone in the final, being thankful to be there and also the fact that you're the best English side and as such should be able to contend with either. Bottom line: beat Barcelona, then enjoy the second leg of our match that follows and decide who you want to cheer on then.

Barcelona, easily. I couldn't stand losing to United in the final. Razz

We'd be very nervy against them, given our record, although the one time we have beaten them is in the FA Cup. I think we could do it, but the fear of losing could take us.

Also, this is a European competition. If we got United, we'd of had to go through Arsenal, Chelsea and them to lift the cup - and, glorious as that might be, it'd be a shame to play so few of Europe's best outside of England, en route.
