Juan Ugarte is set for a return to Wrexham after failing to settle at Crewe.
The Basque striker left The Racecourse Ground for Gresty Road during the summer, but has found himself surplus to requirements and is now looking to secure regular first-team football.
Wrexham boss Denis Smith is keen on taking Ugarte back, although any deal is likely to be temporary rather than permanent.
The former Real Sociedad marksman bagged 16 goals in 23 starts for The Dragons after joining them on non-contract terms in November 2004.
