Lucas Radebe revealed he is considering a coaching role at Leeds after being approached about the possibility by manager Kevin Blackwell.

The popular 36-year-old, who marked the end of a hugely successful 11-year stint with Leeds in front of nearly 38 000 fans who turned up at Elland Road for his testimonial, is also mulling over several other opportunities.

And the former South African international defender, who appeared for both sides as an International XI beat a Leeds United XI 7-3, admitted he is desperate to make his final bow for the club on Sunday against Rotherham in their final Coca-Cola Championship fixture of the season.

He said: "I've had a word with the gaffer (Blackwell) and he said he will create something for me," said Radebe, who made 261 appearances for Leeds after being signed by former boss Howard Wilkinson from Kaiser Chiefs in September 1994.

"I have to let him know my whereabouts, so we will see what happens."

Radebe has also been courted by officials from the South African Football Association, who are keen to see him lead his nation as coach at the 2010 World Cup, which will be staged in his homeland.

"Yes, there are expectations. There were a few South Africa people here from the FA," he said. "They wanted me to get involved earlier, but I've stalled them because I had a job to finish at Leeds."

Radebe, who has managed only two games for Leeds this season after rupturing an Achilles tendon against Wolves in August last year and then suffering medial ligament damage, also revealed the game's world governing body FIFA and former club Kaiser Chiefs were in the queue for his services too.

He added: "Long-term for me the Kaisers are an option and I'd like to be a part of them - but I don't know, I will leave my options open. FIFA have been in touch. I have a couple of invitations in the next couple of weeks to meet up and we'll see what comes out."

Radebe, who won 70 caps for South Africa and captained them at both France 98 and Japan and South Korea 2002, confirmed he will also continue with his charity work.

He is hoping his testimonial would raise £500 000 for several of his chosen causes.

'The Chief' conceded he had to fight back the tears at an emotionally-charged send-off in front of the biggest crowd of the season at Elland Road.

He said: "It's been a great turn-out. I'm really honoured to be given this opportunity. Sometimes you don't know the impact you have had on a club until times like these come. I didn't want to be a big softy, so I held the tears back, but it was emotional. It's been a great day for me and my family."

Gordon Strachan, Gary McAllister, Gary Speed, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Tony Yeboah, Vinnie Jones and David Batty among others turned out for a Leeds XI, while Bruce Grobbelaar, Mario Melchiot, Olivier Dacourt, John Carew and Jay-Jay Okocha were among the stars on show for an International XI.

"It's been so nice to see them all. It shows how much respect they have for me and I have the same for them," he said.

And Radebe added: "Now I've shown I'm fit enough hopefully the gaffer can put me on for five minutes (against Rotherham). After that I'm tempted to carry on, but I think that's it.

"I have to accept with my injuries that I have to move on, but I'll still be in Leeds. I'd like to finish in the last game and be there, but a lot depends on the manager."
