Are you serious? (Well, no your not, but don't answer that.) Did you see Drogba all match??

And why the hell did Ashley Cole not get penalised, let alone booked, for the tackle on Kuyt?

The ref really was quite poor. He let nearly everything go other than when someone slightly (non-aggressively) raised their arms to someone when challenging, or just leaning their arms or chest near their opponent when going to challenge. It was pathetic.

The tv replays showed minimal contact and Torres making the most of it, it was a very well taken dive....I have no doubts about it Ben. Agreed the referee was poor regarding decisions for both teams. Having said that......2-0 to Liverpool would have been a better reflection of the balance of play. I thought they played well tonight.

Point was you decided to rant on about one Torres incident when Drogba spent more time on the ground than he did on his feet.

Agreed. I guess I am developing a 'Torres' complex. I'm only jealous cos United didn't sign him.

And the truth will out.

Perhaps the reason Torres dived is because he was getting elbows in the back of his head ALL GAME. Chelsea did a better hatchet job on him than United and that is saying something. Terry even kicked him while he was down.

Drogba on the other hand was the very model of sportsmanship as always.

There was some interesting footage of him going down the tunnel at half time actually.

Sorry Reds fans but what goes around comes round. Your luck can't last forever. I missed Chelsea's penalty claim but heard it was a nailed on too. I missed quite a bit of the game in all fairness because I knew it would be tense but lacking in attacking moments and I was proved right again. Sh1t on a stick. From what I saw, Liverpool deserved to win and would have done if Torres was on his game. Lamps was at fault for Kuyt's goal - you can't attempt to play the ball out of defence with your back turned, not against Liverpool anyway where they press the opposition tightly.

Ben91: You're right about Cole getting a booking, but so should have Mascherano for cynically taking out Kalou in the second half. A blatant booking and hence a second leg suspension. Not at Anfield though Rolling Eyes

How weird but funny would it be if Grant won the Champions' League and League double? Confused

Stupidest thing you have ever said.

To try and suggest we were lucky overall with decisions as well.....

Yeah you clearly DIDN'T see the game.

Chelsea 4-4 Villa

Chelsea 1-1 Everton

Chelsea 1-1 Wigan

HALF TIME in the tie.

We're still going to Moscow. Bluenose enjoy Tescos!

I don't know how your reading skills are but I stated he had one goal against top opposition.

and to add to that Ronaldo has scored 10 Champions League goals this season to Torres's 5.

Yeah and Torres has been here less then a year. How was Ronaldo's first Season again ?

No matter. We can score at Stamford Bridge.

What makes you so sure? Liverpool havn't scored under Rafa at the Bridge. 8 games

And there was me thinking this season couldn't get much worse for Riise... Oh how wrong i was.

Stupid, stupid error. It was far to close to get it over the bar. Shoulda just kicked away from the goal. Shocking.

It's really disappointing, incredibly disappointing, because we certainly deserved a win in that match. If Torres didn't have a mare we could've won that by 2 or 3. He was [beep!] poor in that game. It was like he reverted back to his old ways, where he fluffs chances for fun. Personally, i thought it would be more fun sticking 'em in the net.

We played so well, but have nothing to show for it. The score was a disaster. I can't see us beating Chelsea. We certainly aren't going to beat them in normal time, so we have to just hope we can score, and then hold it for penalties.

It's unlikely though, but you never know. At least Benitez won't be criticised if we go out,. He did everything right.

Did anyone see the ratings in the papers? Well, The Sun... Unsurprisingly they were sh*t. Is it just me, or was Ballack better than Makelele? Drogba much better than Lampard? Carvalho better than Terry? And Alonso better than 7? no way was Torres only 1 worse. Torres was [beep!], how he managed to lose control of the ball when he was in behind the defence i don't know. If he warranted his rating of 6, then Alonso must've been on about 12- he was twice as good. No way was he better than his counterpart - Drogba, despite Dider lacking match fitness and being isolated.

If Torres plays like that in the second leg, we've got no hope.

That's the Torres I used to know.
However, Liverpool deserved the victory and Chelsea were just too lucky. Anyway I think Liverpool will get to the final!

Funny you should say that because we pretty much hung Torres out to dry against a top back four time and time again.

If Benitez starts Crouch in the second leg up top with Torres WATCH the difference.

I predict now that Chelsea will struggle to deal with the aerial threat we impose on them IF Benitez starts Gerrard on the right and Torres and Crouch up top.

A major weakness overlooked in Chelsea's game is the aerial ability of their centrebacks! Carvalho is awesome on the deck but in the air he can be suspect. Despite Terry being very forceful in the air, he too has his moments and Crouch can get the better of both for some very important knockdowns!

John Arne Riise's just been stopped by the police on the M6, he was caught heading the wrong way.

just before i take the Riise out of Liverpool fans , oh sorry i already did .... Laughing It is a shame we can only use Premier League goals for goal of the month , as that header would surely be worthy of being nominated .....and he worked hard to bend down that low to head it .

If this is goal of the month, can Bendter's heroics against Fabregas' shot be save of the season?

A disappointing result after such a good performance, and that was down to Riise. Why didn't he just stick his foot on it? Ironic really if you consider He came on for Aurelio who contributed to the added-on time with his injury... also Drogba's diving and ground shafting added to injury time. By the way, superb cross from substitute Salomon Kalou for the goal. Riise's catastrophic mistake caps what has been a dismal season for him which has seen him be on the bench a lot, be low on confidence and he hasnt hit the back of the oppositions net which is a first for him in his Anfield career. He'll find it hard to regain his confidence for even next season.

As for Torres it was a poor display from him, I can't believe he shot straight at Cech when he had that chance in the first half, he normally slots them home. It was the same with the chance in injury time also, straight at Cech. The thing is with Torres he can have a quiet game and then turn on the sublime in an instant. Like the Arsenal game, he wasnt playing that well and then Bam! He turned and scored. unfortunately it wasnt his night but we need him to produce at Stamford bridge!

speaking of which, i wonder whether Riise will go into hiding with 'psychological problems' like senderos did after this massive mistake...

whats that, Riise is a man? oh yeah, he will pick himself up and do his best to make up for the error. take note sticky, riise will demonstrate how to carry yourself after letting your own club down.

he will bounce back stronger. i like riise, he shows passion and really seems to care about Liverpool. it was undoubtedly a very poor mistake and why he didnt volley it into row Z i will never know but these things happen and he will get over it and be a bigger man for it.
