MLS MetroStars midfielder Michael Bradley transferred Wednesday to Heerenveen in the Dutch first division.
Bradley, 18, was the 46th overall pick in the 2004 MLS draft. After missing all the 2004 season with a foot injury, he started in 30 games for the MetroStars last year. He had one goal -- the game-winner against Chivas USA that sent the MetroStars to the playoffs -- and four assists.
The MetroStars retain the rights to Bradley if he returns to MLS.
"I'm very excited about this opportunity to play in Holland," Bradley said in statement released by the MetroStars. "Heerenveen is a club with a great history of developing young players in Europe, and I can't wait to get started."
