Stam admits Milan were lucky

AC Milan defender Jaap Stam admitted the Italians had been lucky to progress to the Champions League final after being out-played for almost the duration of their second leg clash against PSV Eindhoven in Holland.

Leading 2-0 from their home leg, the Rossineri found themselves back on level terms after goals from Ji-Sung Park and Phillip Cocu.

However, Massimo Ambrosini scored with one of Milan's few attempts on goal with just seconds remaining and, although Cocu volleyed in an even later third for the Dutch, they could not overcome the blow of conceding an away goal.

"We didn't play particularly well," Stam told Sky Sports.

"In football anything is possible. We only had one chance and we scored and that was enough for us.

"PSV dominated the game for almost 90 minutes and that is not the way we need to play.

"The two semi-finals they played very well but they got knocked out."

Turning his thoughts to the final against Liverpool, the former Manchester United centre-back said: "It is only one game. We have seen Liverpool play, we know they have got a strong team."

PSV midfielder Mark van Bommel could not hide his disappointment and, echoing Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's comments on Tuesday night after the defeat to Liverpool, said the best team did not get what they deserved.

"We were a bit unlucky today. It was very disappointing," he said.

"When you play two games better than AC Milan you deserve to win but they scored the away goal, which is the most important thing.

"We were the best team. It was a sucker punch."

It's true.

We were lucky.
Milan didn't play well, and in this occasion PSV deserved to pass. In the aggregate 2 matches they had more chanches to score.
Yesterday Milan started playing after Psv scored 2-0.
I think the trainer should have played with 2 forwards since the beginning, instead of the only Sheva. In fact, when Seedorf (yesterday very bad) went out Milan started playing much better.

Anyway, now we will go to Instanbul to get the cup and bring it to Milan !!!!!
