I think the title challenge ended the day Martin Taylor injured Eduardo, it's been downhill since, for multiple reasons : loss of form, individual mistakes, referees decision and team selection

Seems to me the turning point was losing 5-1 to us (not because of the result, but thats the time it changed), almost everything since has been cack.

Nope, we went on to win the next 4 matches by a combined score of 11-1 (3 of those being league matches). Then we lost to United in the FA Cup, played well in the following game against Milan, then the dreaded Birmingham game, which started the run of 4 straight draws and a loss to Chelsea (two of those draws should have been wins if the right calls were made). That was the downfall, not the loss to Tottenham or United (we bounced back fine to those two losses, you can make an argument about the United loss, but definitely not the loss to Tottenham).

Maybe it wasnt all down to the Tottenham game but i think the result did shake the club. If we had beaten your weakened squad 2 maybe 3-1 then i dont think it would of made a difference but i do think because it was 5 it may of shaken a few people.

It was the start of Gallas' mini-breakdown imo, and where we first saw all the arguing amongst the players that has occured since.

As well as the two preseason cups; Emirates Cup and Amsterdam Tournament (against Inter Milan, PSG, Ajax and Lazio)

^ That would be brilliant for the league. Having it all come down to the very last gameweek.

Imagine if the refs didn't take 4 points away from us with dubious calls. It would be a 3 way tie for the top spot, only GD separating the 3. Now that would be exciting.

yeah certainly the penalty conceded by Gail Clichy against Birmingham .....but i suppose Chelsea and Man Utd could also claim certain decisions went against them ...

Man Utd 1 West Ham 1

Newcastle 3 Chelsea 2

Arsenal 3 Everton 1

then it would go to the last game .... Wink

nice try conn.. lol..

hammers haven't been showing any good performance lately.. and magpies are on fire.. so it's likely we're earning another three points from hammers while Chelsea's giving their points away to magpies..

keep saying that at the weekend when Man Utd are 1-0 down with only 5 mins left ...the form book goes out the window in these games ...Man Utd have won nothing yet , they could yet end up with nothing . Wink

but have Man Utd been impressive lately .....great goal by Scholes on tuesday and you got to the final ..but Barcelona were as poor as they could be really . West Ham have cost Man Utd the title before and they could easily do it again if they are up for it .

Man Utd or Chelsea still need to win to mathmatically rule us out of the title ... i will stay stubbornly optimistic til the end ..

We do of course need to beat Everton ... Smile

yeah.. someone need to shift hargreaves back to mid.. but apart from the goal by scholesy.. barcelona were actually a good team.. they had selected good players who kept us Man Utd fans praying hard during the match.. we should've met each other in final..

and hammers did beat us once this season.. and so did trotters.. but in the second match against trotters.. we managed to have a slight win on them.. and so we could probably manage to deal with this coming match.. no more pressure for cl and the team would play better..
