Rosenior : proud despite relegation |
|
Leroy Rosenior was proud of his Torquay players despite seeing their stay in League One ended after one season.
"The players have been tremendous," the Gulls boss told BBC Radio Devon after a 2-1 loss at Colchester sent them down. "I can't really fault their effort and application, there's no way they should be ashamed of themselves in any way. "I'm gutted but I'm proud of being associated with them. They are a great bunch of lads and sometimes you don't get what you deserve," Rosenior added. He added: "We gave ourselves a chance in the last month and we didn't manage to take it. "We haven't got the biggest resources, but their attitude to training has been spot on. I couldn't ask for anything more. "I want to go round and give them a hug. A lot of those young lads are very hurt." Rosenior says he is looking for his players to bounce back from the devastation of going down. "On Monday I'll have a good chat with the players and we'll take it from there," he explained. "You've got to take the knockbacks - when things are good you take all the credit and when things aren't going so well you've got to stand up and be counted. "And it's important we do that." |
