Manchester City have denied they are the subject of a £100m takeover bid by ex-Coventry chairman Bryan Richardson and ex-Formula One boss Eddie Jordan.
The News of the World reported the duo were part of a consortium on the verge of taking control of City and installing Gordon Strachan as manager.

But City spokesman Paul Tyrrell said: "We have received no contact from Richardson nor Jordan.

"There has been no new development or investment in City for over a year."

Tyrrell added: "It is our belief that Mr Jordan is in fact a shareholder in Manchester United."

The speculation that Strachan was to arrive as manager was treated with scepticism, given how impressively Stuart Pearce has done since taking over from Kevin Keegan in March.

City are looking for new investors, but current chairman John Wardle is settled in his role, having replaced David Bernstein over two years ago.

Wardle has provided the club with substantial loans along with JD Sports business partner David Makin, and has stated his belief that he can look after his financial interests better by staying in the job
