After this match what do you predict for the CL matchs ?

I'll go for a win for Manchester and Liverpool both qualified.

RC_Lens, sorry to go off topic for a second but I think there's a Partick Thistle kit you may like in the kit section mate...

I really thought Man Utd would win it, but Chelsea deserved their victory.

Essien will be back for the CL game against Liverpool and he played really well today. We really should have taken advantage of his absence in the last CL game.

That is a huge boost for them, one of the best midfielders in the game.

Chelsea ground staff and Manchester United players were involved in a bizarre fracas on the pitch in an almost deserted Stamford Bridge stadium after Saturday's Premier League match between the two teams.

None of the United players who played in the match were involved but players Patrice Evra, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Gerard Pique and John O'Shea were all warming down when an argument began with the ground staff tending the pitch.

Stewards quickly moved in to separate those involved but after the situation quietened down the row flared up again, although no punches were thrown.

The incident came a few minutes after Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-1 to pull level with United at the top of the table

Shocked

Yes he really was quite something today. Chelsea still haven't lost at the Bridge. They're definitely the favourites to progress, although I won't write off Liverpool's chances. More than happy to have Liverpool draw 1-1 at the Bridge and having the match go to penalties. Razz

That Ballack and Drogba squabble was really funny too. Except that it won't be that important anymore. I think the media would have jumped on it if Chelsea didn't leave with a victory here.

Great second half to a match I didn't expect to be half as good as it was - I don't think United can complain too much overall, they didn't turn up in the first half and Chelsea did well to respond to their pressure.

Really annoying to see the Chelsea players surrounding the ref as someone mentioned, but United did also.
That needs to be stamped out.

Did you notice how John Terry had a personality transplant and was seen to be pulling his players back away from the referee? I'm sure it had nothing to do with Capello saying his captain must be a model professional on and off the pitch...

I actually found myself wanting United to win at one point, such are the [beeps!] at Chelsea.

As a neutral I thought it was a really entertaining game to watch full of incident....

I didn't know Man Utd hadn't had a penalty awarded against them untill this afternoons game
but thats not surprising to find out when referees are scared to even award a free kick for
a foul or hand out a yellow card to a Man Utd player for fear of being lynched by a screaming mob.

I just heard Ferguson on Talk Sport claim he won't be surprised if Chelsea win a penalty at Newcastle...
Thats a bit rich considering away teams are never awarded penalties at Old Trafford even blatant ones.

I wonder why Ferguson always bottles out of the post match interviews with sky when his team loses
and sends out carlos querioz who never makes any sense and chose to blame the ref for the defeat!!

If Man Utd think they will pick up 3 easy points in their next game against West Ham they better think
again as even if we are down and out injury wise I hope we won't just lay day down without a fight.....

Thats my thoughts for the day and just my opinions and may return later to write about Chelsea next!

Totally Sparky. I spent most of the match trying to work out which was the 'lesser' though.

On another note, why the hell were cards not issued for dissent? Mascherano would be spinning in his grave... were he dead of course.

Make no mistake about it ,Sir alex had Ronaldo on the bench because of his performance or lack of against Barca. If He would have played him from the start in this game Ronaldo would have been shut down as usual , and he will probably start to loose confidence .

Laughing Laughing Laughing You really do sound like an idiot sometimes. Not saying you are but if you really beelieve all you post i might consider it

He rested Ronaldo because he is his best player, THE best player in the world right now and he wants him fresh for the second leg of the CL final which is the more important game given Man U could lose this and still win the title. Wink

That's your opinion as it was my opinion ,but i will put myself calling you an idiot.Ronaldo being United's best player is questionable. I mean, if you're basing that on his goals then i have to question your intellect.
When you consider that Evra ,Ferdinand,Vidic, VDS and Tevez all perform in every match regardless of the level of opponent or importance of match,i find impossible to put ronaldo above them. Like i said before each to his own. I'm not really concerned with the opinions of the majority as you can already tell, and i don't just go against the grain for the sake of being different.

Even i thought if given the chance at a penalty Ronaldo would have buried it,but he bottled it big time.
I think when it comes to confidence Ronaldo is one of the toughest to break. But if he starts to look at why he hasn't done so well in the recent big games ,then his confidence will become fragile.

Well on that basis, half the defenders in the league would be better than him.

And if it's all about big games, then Dirk Kuyt is better than him as well.

I just hope Man U don't win the league on goal difference. That would be an awful way for Chelsea to not win it.

I agree 100%.

Very true, once again inconsistency rears its head.

At one point I couldn't believe how much Hargreaves was going on at the ref, certainly warranted a card.

I agree inconsistency in all type of decision is the main problem not the referees.
The penalty is given but another referee wouldn't simply because because they would interpret differently the rules, the offside rule is a joke for me and as for the dissent the campaign for cleaning up the players act did not last long Laughing

I can't believe Ferguson was complaining that much about the penalty, Carrick could easily have avoided using the arm, it was a stonewall penalty. Queiroz and Ferguson are both beginning to get on my nerves listening to their post match interviews in that respect, they are becoming as bad as a certain Frenchman. Vidic's injury looked painful.

well.. it's another weird formation set by fergie in this match.. so there's nothing much to hope.. T.T

and i felt really upset when vidic suffered from another nose bleed incident.. would like to sue drogba
for having a tough knee and for trying to kill vidic.. but no enough proof to go trial.. T.T

but Rooney managed to make me chuckle a bit when he scored in a non-fit condition and everyone wanted to give him a hug.. must still be having a little pain with his waist.. T.T

honestly.. i'm still uncertain about what carrick had done for a pk given against us.. tried to view the replay a couple of times already.. but the crowd wasn't very helpful.. T.T

hope we could return to the former best formation and win against barca this tuesday.. T.T

Chelsea v Manchester United
