Man City insist Sven will lead tour:

Manchester City have reiterated that Sven-Goran Eriksson will lead the team on a post-season tour of the Far East.

The former England manager's future at Eastlands has been the subject of much speculation, with owner Thaksin Shinawatra expected to relieve Eriksson of his duties at the end of the current campaign and Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari widely tipped as a successor.

After Sunday's 1-0 loss to Liverpool, Eriksson said his future would be clarified next week at the conclusion of the Barclays Premier League season.

However, whatever the outcome of his meeting with Thaksin, it appears the 60-year-old will lead City in Thailand and Hong Kong later this month.

"The media speculation does not affect the visit," club spokesman Paul Tyrell told the Bangkok Post newspaper. "Mr Eriksson will be attending."

City will arrive in Thailand on May 14 to open a club store and hold a clinic before playing against Thailand Premier All-Stars on May 17.

A match with a South China Invitation XI follows in Hong Kong on May 22.

Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has been offered the post of manager at Manchester City according to Wednesday newspaper reports in England.

Speculation has been rife in recent days that Scolari would be offered the job after rumours that City owner Thaksin Shinawatra had decided to dump current incumbent Sven Goran Erikkson gathered pace.

Several newspapers are reporting that Scolari will command a salary of some 3 million pounds to take over from the former England number one.

Many City fans have voiced fears that Scolari – due to his commitment to Portugal at this summer’s Euro 2008 competition – would not be able to take control until some time into the Eastlands outfit's pre-season training.

However, both The Times and The Independent newspapers are saying that Thaksin is attempting to allay these worries by making Scolari commit to the Mancunians before Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland starts on June 7.

Sources at the club are, nevertheless, still insisting that Eriksson will lead City on an end of season tour to the Far East.

they would be very stupid to sack him....

He is a proven club manager in sweden Itlay and Portugal and in one season has turned man city from also rans to a strong top 10 team

Scolari spokesman denies offer:

Acaz Fellegger was reported to have said that the Brazilian coach may meet with City bosses before Euro 2008.

However, later on Wednesday he told Portuguese newspaper Record that Scolari has at no point been in contact with Manchester City and will not make any decision on his future until after the summer tournament in Austria and Switzerland.

"Nobody has contacted Luiz Felipe Scolari," Fellegger said.

"Just as has happened in the last two major international tournaments (Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup), Scolari alone will decide his future after Euro 2008.

"Any club who has any interest in Scolari is completely free to contact the coach.

"But the truth is that there has been no approach and Scolari has repeatedly stated that his future will only be decided after the Euro tournament."

Earlier on Wednesday media reports had claimed that Scolari had been offered a £3.2 million-a-year deal by City owner Thaksin Shinawatra.

It was also reported that Shinawatra was keen for the 59-year-old to make a decision on the move before the European Championships begin.

It's a good job this result didn't have implications for other teams affected by goal difference. City players should be ashamed of themselves. Totally unprofessional performance.

I think Mark Hughes would do a good job. If you look at some of his buys he has made in the past, most of them have paid off.

Bye bye sven. He showed what a great manager he really is at man city. Well done to man and best of look in the future.
Looks like he is going to have the Mexico job now.
